-I week later-
I hadn't spoken to Luke since the funeral. He doesn't answer my calls, or my messages. School isn't a place for Luke right now. My life went back to normal, with my friends and doing homework on my own. I don't know if I'd ever speak to Luke again, but I know he needs me now with what he's going through so I thought I should go and check on him.
Halfway down the street I considered turning back, but this was Luke we are talking about. He had become someone who I do care about. Even after what he used to be like.
*ding* the door bell rang, a few seconds later Liz opened to door. She had a box in her hand and dust pan and brush.
"Doing some cleaning are you Mrs. Hemmings?" I asked politely. Once I spoke I noticed Luke's dad down the hall, he was putting frames in bubble wrap and then placing them neatly into a box, he finished with the last one and sealed the contents in.
"Has Luke not told you sweety?" She had her brows pulled in.
"No, I haven't spoken to him." I said slowly.
"We are moving to Perth." She said with a sigh. My mouth had dropped and tears started to fill my eyes. I refused to let any of them fall.
"With Ben passing we need a fresh start. Luke is quite lost-"
"Exactly, he's lost he needs his friends. He can't loose anyone else... I can't loose him." A tear fell.
"I'm sorry. But he made the decision. He didn't want to wake up and have that constant reminder that his brothers room was just next to his and now his brothers gone-" she started to cry.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Hemmings. I shouldn't have stopped by. I'll be on my way. Take care Mrs. Hemmings. And I send all my love your way."
'Thank you' she mouthed and blew a kiss. I waved good bye as I left. Knowing that I will never see Luke again.
- Three years later -2014--
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" I yelled having the time of my life with Amy and Jesse. Jesse and I have been dating for over 6 months now. He's a little taller then me, brown hair, green eyes, quite buff. He was my everything, this year was going to be a year that put my life into perspective. He and I were starting uni together, both doing a Bachelor of Arts, he was a writer. Me, I was a photographer, loved it. Something that I had always dreamed of doing.
Back to the party, yes I was at a New Years party, with all the people I graduated with. I loved partying, was where I met Jesse. He made his appearance a little daunting but he won me over.
"Happy new year baby." Jesse said as we went into a kiss.
"Ok lovebirds break it up." Amy said while pulling us a part. We started pre-primary together, and then we graduated together. She was my bestfriend for life. Nothing seemed clearer.
"WHO'S UP FOR ANOTHER ROUND!!" Jesse yelled over the music. Turning around he moved through the crowd, to the kitchen of the house we were at. Amy and I continued dancing to the blaring music, when long strong arms moved to my hips... These huge hands weren't Jesse. I recognised them but I couldn't pin point who's they were-
"Luke?" I had swivelled around a little confused-
"LUKE!!" I yelled as happy as I hadn't been in a long time. I moved in giving him a huge hug when I pulled back-
"Luke." My voice moved to spit anger and my finger pointed.
"Amy we're leaving." I grabbed her hand moving away from Luke. He grabbed mine.
"Em-" he said softly.
"NO LUKE. YOU CAN'T JUST COME BACK AFTER THREE YEARS AND EXPECT TO BE THE WAY YOU LEFT IT." I yelled.
"Flower is everything ok? Is this emo bothering you?" Jesse had stepped in front of me. Blocking me from Luke.
"Yes." I admitted.
"Who's this guy and why is he calling you flower? What an idiot!" Luke stepped closer.
"Look mate you need to leave-" Jesse started but I pulled on his arm and getting Luke's hand off my wrist.
"Jesse don't worry about him. Lets just go ok?" We walked away. I turned back to see Luke wasn't the person I knew. He had changed the way he looked as well as the way he acted. The old Luke I knew didn't have tattoos, piercings, lilac dyed hair and certainly never clothed in fully black. Tight ripped jeans and a v-neck shirt completed with a pair of black vans was the new Luke. Fuck it was sexy. But he left me.
That changed everything.
