Soon enough the garage was blasting with music. Ashton, was the guy playing the drums. Tall like Luke, brown curly hair, big arms and a solid build. He was nineteen; well actually he was turning twenty this year. No way did he look like he was two years older then Luke and I. Luke had introduced Amy and I to Ashton and Ashton’s friend Jessica. She insisted that we call her Jess. As I had predicted she was really nice and really easy to get along with. She had just turned nineteen a few days ago actually. Luke was playing his guitar and was singing away. I had no idea that Luke could sing let along play the guitar. I had seen it in his room before but it just never clicked in my head. Michael was playing the guitar too except he would only sing every now and again. His voice was different to Luke’s but was still pretty good.

They finished their little ‘warm-up’ as Luke had called it.

“Alright, did you guys want to do it one more time or wait for Calum to get here?” Luke asked the boys. I choked on my breath. Luke quickly looked at me.

“What’s wrong?” He asked me.

“Calum is coming?” I hadn’t exactly been the best of friends with Calum and I wasn’t planning on making friends with him soon either.

“Yeah, why are you so surprised?” I realised that he never heard what Calum had said to me at school the day that Luke’s brother died. I didn’t want to bring up that day for Luke so I thought that maybe I could just get over it and become friends with him. No, actually I won’t become friends with him; I will just make it look as though I don’t hate him… Which I do.

“I’m just surprised your still friends with him. You were in Perth for a while, I thought you two had lost contact with each other.” I said simply, trying not to bring on too much attention for my reaction to Calum coming.

“Oh I thought you two had a fight I didn’t know about.” He laughed at the end and looked at Michael and Ashton whom were both laughing as well. I just did a little laugh that I’m pretty sure no one heard.

“Ah, speak of the devil, here he comes!” Luke said as he passed me his guitar. I took it as the other two boys went to go and greet him on the driveway and help him with his stuff.

I started playing around with Luke’s guitar, I had never played the guitar before so I was just moving my hand up and down on the strings.

“Can you play?” Jess asked me.

“Gosh no!” I laughed. She held out her hands for me to pass the guitar to her and so I did.

“Can you play?” I asked Jess. She nodded and started playing a really awesome tune that sounded a little like ‘The 1975’. I bobbed my head to the tune and tapped my foot, I was also miming the words of the song ‘Chocolate by The 1975’. I looked up at Amy.

“Go on sing aloud already!” She told me. I gave her a confused look.

“I can’t sing!” I told her. She looked at me like I had said the most stupid thing in the world.

“You do realise that the bathroom walls at your house are as thin as a tissue! I hear you sing all the time!” Amy said. I flew my hands up to my mouth and gasped.

“Are you serious? That’s so embarrassing.” I said. I had no idea that when I sung in the shower that she could hear me and that’s when I was dating Jesse so he would have heard me too. Oh my, this is so embarrassing.

“How is it embarrassing, you are so good. Sing while Jess plays that same tune. *gasp* and I can play the drums, oh my god, I’ve always wanted to play drums!” She quickly jumped off her seat and ran to where Ashton was sitting. She did just a simple beat and stayed with that. Jess then joined in with the same tune as before on Luke’s guitar and I took a deep breath.

“Hey, now I call it a split ‘cause I know that you will

Uh, oh, you bite your friends like chocolate

And you said “We go where nobody knows,

we got guns hidden under our peticoats,

No, we’re never gonna quit it, no,

We’re never gonna quit it, no”

Now run, run away from the boys in the blue,

Oh, my car smells like chocolate

Hey, now I think about what to do

I think about what to say

I think about how to think

Pause it, play it, pause it, play it, pause it” I looked up to see all the boys looking at me as well as another girl Calum had bought along. Luke especially looked the most shocked. That’s when I immediately stopped singing.

“Why did you stop?” Luke asked me.

“Because I’m not that good, I was just singing because the girls made a cool tune!” I said with a small laugh. I’m pretty sure my cheeks were bright red.

“Are you fucking serious?” Ashton said, which I was surprised by. I just laughed and nodded. Ashton turned to Luke.

“Is she being serious?” He asked Luke this time.

“I think she’s being serious.” Luke turned away from me and looked at Ashton, they both had the same face on as they did when I first looked up at them.

“Babe keep going please, you never told me you could sing like that!” Luke told me. I just sat there and had no idea what to do. I really wasn’t that good.

“Amy did you know she could sing?” Michael asked Amy, I thought that was pretty cute that he asked her. Amy nodded.

“Yeah I did. But she wouldn’t have believed me! So I thought getting someone else to tell her like now, then maybe she would.

“Like how I’m about to tell you that you played those drums like a pro?” Michael directed at Amy, she looked so shocked and pleased the same time that Michael had complimented her. Whether she believed it or not, it was a compliment.

“Alright enough chit-chat boys we need to rehearse if we’re entering the gig next month.” Calum said with his same old mean tone. Luke looked at Calum with a weird expression but did as he said.

The girl that was with Calum seemed really shy, as in she just stood over on the other side of the garage and watched the boys play. I got up and walked over to her. She was tall, with long legs, about half a head taller then me. She had dark brown long hair, all the way down to her hips. Golden eyes, I had never seen eyes so golden. She had just a plain white t-shirt with navy blue skinny jeans and white vans.

“Hi.” I said to her. “I’m Emma, Luke’s girlfriend.”

She looked at me with viscous eyes.

“Bianca.” She said simply.

“Are you Calum’s friend?”

“Girlfriend.” She said bluntly. Silence fell.

“Well it was nice meeting you, come sit with us if you want.” I said still with a smile thinking that maybe she has a reason for being so rude. I left because she didn’t say anything else.

“Wow talk about rude!” I whispered to Jessica and Amy.

“Doesn’t surprise me, her and Calum have that in common.” Amy said. Jess looked at us completely confused.

“I’ve missed something haven’t I?” Jess said softly.

“Yeah, I will explain later. Did you wanna get coffee some time this week?” I asked Jess.

“Sure, here I will give you my number.” She gave us her number. We decided that a Tuesday or a Thursday would be better juggling round getting things ready for University as it starts in three weeks. I still have all my class timetable and books to get.
