Jem's POV:

The day started out so normal. Like every other day here. I woke up, took a shower, brushed my teeth, put on today's clothes, went to the kitchen and ate some breakfast.

Only, when I was on my way to where Ava said she would be, on the training grounds. To my surprise, I found out that she wasn't there at all.

'Think she ditched us?' Asked Silver.

'More like, she was never here in the first place. I can't smell her scent.' I replied to her.

'I've got a bad feeling about this... Keep your guard up. This may be a test.'

'But wouldn't she have told us?' I questioned.

'Element of supri-.'

Just as she was about to finish her sentence, the split-second sound of an arrow firing caught my undivided attention. Before I could even comprehend what I was doing, I caught the arrow in my hand, before it could strike me.

Unlike the last one, this one had no note attached to it. Plus, this one just felt...different. Like it was shot by someone else, this time around.

I also took notice to how heavy it felt and looked. The arrow felt much lighter than the previous, most likely because it was thinner. Also, this particular arrow had symbols and words engraved in it.

Over my time being here, Devin had been giving me lessons on how to translate the ancient texts, that they all seemed to understand. The few words on there that really stood out to me, were Fire Queen.

My mind instantly went to Ava. That she-devil. I thought angrily, snapping the arrow in two.

'We mustn't stay here any longer Jem. Now that we know who's behind this. We should travel deeper into the woods, to find some proper cover, just incase if she tries anything.' Silver reminded me, in the back of my head.

'But why can't we just leave? I mean, she isn't exactly here, standing next to me.' I asked her.

'She's most likely watching over us now. Planning her next attack. Get moving, now Jem.'

'Alright alright. I'm going.'

And with that final exchange of words, I travelled deeper into the woods.

At the time, completely unaware, of Ava's presence.

Ava's POV:

Jem's training was about to get a whole lot harder. Both me and the rest of the group, had discussed Jem's training the night before.

And we all agreed on the fact, that if we all were to take time in her training, that we wouldn't be ready for the upcoming war. Light against the darkness.

We would assume new roles, for Jem's sake.

Amanda would take her place elsewhere, for a separate mission. To get in contact with Jem's companions back in her world. Their encouragement would help Jem through it all.

I would continue being Jem's trainer, for the short time. Only, I'd have to step up my game, from a non-deadly force of nature to a deadly force of nature. She'd have to feel the full wrath of my flames, to get to Laton.

Laton, would have to step up his game too. Being Jem's last teacher.

I only hoped that she'd be able to take it all in, and give it her all, cause that's what we were gonna give her.

I watched Jem closely, as she trudged her way through the large forest. Judging by her direction, she'd run into a large landform, soon enough. That would give me the perfect opportunity to corner her, and take her on.

Though, it all seemed too easy. Jem had to see it, from where she currently was. I'll make this more interesting. I thought, grabbing my long bow, and drawing the band back. I inhaled for a moment, before starting my chant.

"For I, am the Queen of Hell's Eternal Flames. Bend, twist, and turn, at my beckoned call. Shape me a arrow, one of your sharpest. To pierce my enemy."
