Chapter 7

Gilinsky's P.O.V

When I walk back inside I notice Ella is gone. I call for her and eventually find she's in the bathroom. Good, she didn't hear me talking to Madison. Madison and I have been off and on for years and no one really knows about her. I tell her that I only sleep around for my job, that they mean nothng to me. But with Ella it was different. I wanted to wake up next to her and kiss her- no, I love Madison and only Madison. 

Ella walked back into the living room looking pale. "Hey, are you ok?" I ask her. She quickly nods and says "Mhm". I know somethings up. Maybe she feels weird now since we slept together. "That was Nate's friend, looking for money." I say, incase she's suspicious. She looks to her phone and nods. I look away.

I look through my instagram feed and see Ella had posted a picture with Sammy captioned; 'best boss ever, if I do say so myself'. He was leaning over and telling her something and she was smiling wide enough that her eyes scrunched up at the corners. I wonder if there is something going on between them. I don't know why, but that made me pretty upset. 

The food finally got here, we sat down on the living room floor with the food spread out everywhere. If I Stay was playing and Ella pretended to be captivated so she wouldn't have to talk to me. I paused the movie. "What's wrong." I say sternly, turning to her. "Nothing" She said and tried to smile but it looked too forced. "No, what's wrong" I say again. She eats some rice and doesn't say anthing. "If it's beacuse we slept to-" I began but she cuts me off. "It's not. It's becuase of something very different." She rolls her eyes. "The other night you said Madison was only your fuck buddy, but obviously not- and it's stupid ok? I'm gonna go." She says, frusterated. 

Ella's P.O.V

I stand up and so does Gilinsky. "Hey, wait, let me explain some things." He grabs my hand. I'm an understanding person, so I sit down on the couch. "I love Madison, but with you, I don't know I'm happy, like, it feels so much more natural to be around you...But I don't know if I could ever do that to Madison after she's stuck with me so long." He looks down at his hands. I stand back up. "Sounds like something you need to work through with her" I say and go upstairs. I wanted to dramatically leave but my uniform and clothes are in his room. And my purse in his car. 

He follows me again. "Give me your keys" I say. "Why?" He asks. "I need to get my purse and then I'm calling an uber." I gather my stuff. "At least let me give you a ride back to your place." He grabs my hand. "Fine.." I quickly walk out. 

We began driving, only talking when I need him to turn. "Ella, I'm- uh ya know, just in a bad place right now." He says and bites his lip. Nervous habit, I'm guessing. I just nod and look out the window. "Here." I point to my complex. He pulls up and I open the door. "Wait!" He says and pulls out the $3,000. "I might be a dick but I do keep my word." I take the money and kind of smile. "Bye Gilinsky" I wave and walk into my building. 

My neighbor, Katherine, greets me at my door. "You've been gone, so I got your mail." She hands it to me. Katherine is a couple years older than me, she's from Kentucky. As far as neighbors go, Katherine is the best. She doesn't complain about my music or how I get up early and vacume once a week. And she gets my mail for me. "Thanks" I smile and take my pile. "So, who's the boy?" She asks. "Oh, a friend of mine from work.." I say. "You found a job! That's great. Where do you work?" She smiles. "Um" I laugh "you wouldn't believe me". 

"Try me." She says. "I work at a  strip club, currently, good pay honestly." I shrug. She gasps but smiles. Katherine won't judge, she da real one. "Now, I need a nap before work, so see ya!" I smile again and walk inside, I missed my apartment.
