Dear diary,

I woke around noon to a soft knock at my door. "Alex?" I heard a voice ask.

Nosey snorted at the door. I didn't get up.

But suddenly a wet tongue was licking my face. "Hi, Molly," I laughed, sitting up.

Steve had let himself in and was carrying more pumpkin pie. "Hungry?" he asked.

"Starved, thanks." I took a slice. "Where do you find these pumpkins anyways?" I asked him.

"In the forest to the north. I can show you sometime," Steve said with a shrug. "But only if you want. I know how you feel about people and help."

"No!" I said a little too loudly. "I mean, I would like to see these pumpkins in the forest. Thanks."

"No problem," Steve said with a smile. "And is it really okay if I call you Alex?"

"It's what my friends call me," I explained.

"Right. Friends." Steve was quiet as he took another piece of pie. "And next time I ask you for help?"

"I'll be right there. Alex the Zombie Hunter, at your service."

"That was totally awesome." Steve laughed. "I think you even did a flip as you flew through the air over me. Oh! That reminds me." He stopped eating and reached into his inventory. He took out something brown and soft-looking.

He held it out to me and I took it with a questioning look.

"It's leather," he explained. "To make your papers into a proper book. I saw you writing while I was healing down there. I know you're a vegetarian, but you can accept a gift, right? I mean, I already ate the steak..."

"Yeah." I nodded quickly. "I understand. Thanks."

I got up and immediately went over to my crafting table, where you, my family of papers, were. A little crafting later, you're a real diary!

What do you think of that?

Alex
