----------------------------------------------Lucy's pov-
It's May; finally. I've worked my ass off to graduate in time but I failed. Now, I'll have to take some more classes in the summer. I'll probably still have to go to school for the fall semester, too. The bags under my eyes have grown significantly. My face has tired written on it 24/7. But, it was all worth it.
Sting slouches in his chair as Yukino works on my face. I forgot to mention, today is prom. My stomach turns at the sudden realization. Oh my god. "Lucy! Don't make your face scrunch up! It's going to ruin your makeup!" Sting laughs as I roll my eyes. Yukino pouts as she continues to do my makeup. Sting looks over at the clock. "Guys, you better hurry up. I'm going to get ready." And with that, he leaves the living room and goes to his room to get ready.
"'You better hurry up'!" Yukino mocks him, "Beauty takes time." She mumbles under her breath. I chuckle as she puts a brush down and gets something else. A few more minutes pass and she shouts, "Done! Now, go put on your dress! I'll go get mine from my car." She walks out to her car as I walk to my room. I go to my closet and open the door. On the door, hangs my dress. I smile remembering when I bought it.
Levy holds five dresses in her arms. All different colors and lengths. "Come on Lu-chan. We've tried on a lot of dresses yet you still haven't chosen one!" I look through the racks, flipping through the dresses. Everyone already had theirs, they were just waiting for me. "Any of these?" I look over to the dresses Levy has in her hands. One a small orange one; no thanks. Another is a bright pink with crystals around the waist and heart neckline. Nope. The other three are blue, one short and poofy, the other long and lacy, and the third one long and silky.
"Sorry, Levy, I just can't find one that I like." She groans as she goes to put them back. I look over to see a rack full of white dresses.
One stands out. It's the only one. (Picture provided just in case you can't picture it. Just that Lucy's dress is long)I walk over to it. It's a black to white ombré. The top is sleeveless with a heart neckline. It's adorned with white and black crystals as it goes from a dark black to a bright white. It's long, and has little rinestones running down the middle where it meets a black waist belt. "Did you find one?" I nod as I pick it up from the rack. I look at the tag to make sure it's my size. "Well, go try it on!"
I smile as I pick it up and lay it down on my bed. I quickly put it on. But, I can't zip it up. I hear a nock and the door open. "You almost ready?" I look back to see Sting at the door. "You need help?" I nod and he walks over. He zips it up with a smile on his face. "All done. Now, let's go to the living room. Natsu said they're almost here." I nod and get my bag.
We both go out into the living room where Yukino is. She's already ready. She where's a light green dress that's short. She has a gold necklace and bracelet that match her dress. She finishes it off with a pair of light green flats. "Oh, here are your heel, Lucy."
Heels?
"What?" She nods and gives me a pink box. "Levy said that you wanted heels." I curse. Damn Levy. I take the box from her and open them. It's a pair of open-toed white heels. Oh great. I put them on. Yukino squeals as I stand up. "You look great!" I can't help but smile at her compliment. A loud knock is heard and Sting opens the door. "Hey."
"Ew, I was expecting to see Lucy open the door." I laugh as Natsu looks at Sting. My blonde brother frowns before stepping away so Natsu can see me. His eyes wander over to me and stop. His face is awestruck. "Luce..." I blush madly as he continues to look over me. Jellal comes in and looks at me. "Hey, we're waiting. Let's get a move on." I nod as I walk to the door. Natsu wraps his arm around my waist. "You look amazing."
He kisses my flushed cheek. "Your corsage." He hands me a box with a white rose and flowers. He already has his own which makes me pout. "I wanted to put it on you." He chuckles as he opens the box and puts it on my wrist. After he puts it on me, he guides me outside to the limo that they rented. "Isn't this a bit too extra?" I ask as he opens the door for me, Yukino, Sting, and Jellal behind us.
"Who cares." Natsu replies as he guides me all the way to the front of the limo. We sit down and wait for everyone to get comfortable. Sting closes the door and we're off. I look around. The neon light give the inside a blue hue and the bar is full of wine and glass cups. Everyone is talking and laughing. The seat are a grey leather and with a black wavy rim for the backrest. Levy smiles at me, "I knew you'd look great in heels. You look perfect Lu-chan." I can't help but smile back as I look at her dress. It's a short orange dress that poofs out slightly at the end. Her wavy hair is pinned to the side with a jeweled barrette.
"Thanks, Levy."
We all make small talk until we arrive at the school. We all get off one by one; Natsu and I are the last to get off. "You know what time." The chofer nods before going back in and driving off. "Well then, we didn't come to just stand around, let's go in."
-time skip-
-Lucy's pov-Natsu guides me to the exit of the gym and outside to the new school courtyard. Lights are hung up all around making it look like a scene right out of some high school drama movie. Our hands are intertwined as we walk. The perfect green grass feels cold against my bare feet. I hold my heels in my other hand; damn shoes made my feet feel like shit.
"So, why'd you bring me here?" His lips curve into a smile.
"You'll see. Sit here." A bench is not too far away from us, a boom box sits on the bench. We walk over to it; his smile never leaves his face. My curiosity is at its peak as he presses play and a song starts playing.(you can play the song if you'd like) He holds both my hands tight, a shine to his eyes and his left hand. A ring? "I just wanted to have some alone time. Just me and you; I wanted–well I want–to thank you. For always being with me, for taking all the shit that I gave you when I was with Lis, for not minding my jealousy, and for being my best friend," the song is now only a murmur in my head as Natsu takes out a small box from the pocket on the inside of his tux, "I know this is super cliché and cheesy, but you are really the best thing that has happened to me, Luce. And I want you to stay with me."
He opens it and my hands automatically go to my face as I gasp. "Don't worry, this isn't a proposal, it's a promise ring. I know we're too young to get married but I want you to have this. As I way of saying that I want to marry you, but not just yet." He takes my left hand and puts it on my ring finger. It's simple; a gold ring with Natsu carved in to it. "Will you, Lucy heartfilia, allow me to be with with you for the rest of your life? I promise I'll do everything in my power to make you happy, always." I nod, tears pricking my eyes. He smiles, before leaning in to kiss me. I kiss him back, with as much passion and happiness I can muster. After we separate, he lets me look closer at his ring. It's silver with my name carved in to it.
"We're the same," I say, my eyes meeting his. He smiles back. He intertwines my hand with his and rests his forehead on mine. With his other hand, he wipes a small tear that trickles from my eye to my cheek.
"We always have, and we'll always be."
