Our first goodbye

'Lady Sif!' Came the booming voice of Volstagg from down the hall. He made haste towards her, Fandral closely on his heels. 'Lady Sif...' He breathed heavily as he reached her. 'You seem more troubled than ever Volstagg. What is it?' She met them and placed a hand on his shoulder. 'It is King Odin my lady, he is awake.' Fandral explained. She looked between them and smiled. 'Well this is good news, he will take over from Loki.' Her face couldn't hide her pleasure. Her face soon fell when her two friends did not share her enthusiasm. 'My lady, he was last seen making his way down the bridge. Rumour has it Thor and Loki are at odds. Fighting my lady.' Sif gripped her sword tightly and began making her way to the bridge herself. 'Get Hogun and follow me! We are gong to help.' She ordered. The four of them made their way hastily across the bridge. Sif's heart beat fast. She did not know what they would find at the other end. Her pace slowed when she came across the scene. The bridge had been broken, the portal gone. Odin stood crouched over the end of the remaining Bifrost. 'My Lord.' She whispered as she approached, the warrior three stayed behind, they knew they were too late to help. She peered over the edge to find Loki and Thor hanging precariously, her heart stopped in her mouth. 'Loki no..' She heard Thor plead. Loki's face turned blank he took one last look to his father and his brother. His eyes met Sif's and his expression changed slightly, but only she appeared to see this. Sorrow filled his eyes as he let go, falling into a wormhole. Thor's cry filled the air, shattering Sif. She wanted to scream, she wanted to jump after him. His gaze never left hers as he fell, it wasn't until he was gone that anyone moved. Odin lifted Thor to safety, his face not conveying any emotion. Thor's eyes still stared down to where Loki had been. She placed her arms around him as he grieved. Thor felt her and he too held her, he knew she was silently grieving his loss. 'He is gone from us Sif. Just...' 'I know...' She said with a heavy heart. The pair stayed for a while, whilst the others left. Once alone she let her tears fall, her body shake, her grief consume her. Only Thor knew of her love for Loki and his love for her, he prayed her love would make Loki stable but it wasn't enough. 'You will never see Jane again Thor.' Sif realised as she looked to where the rest of the bridge used to be. 'I will Lady Sif, the bridge will be repaired. I hope.' 'I hope for you that it does. At least one of us should see our love again.' She sighed before she walked alone, back to the city. Her body felt weak, tired and all she wanted to do was disappear.
