The birth of a hybrid.
Sif was in intense pain, she had never felt this kind of pain. She cried out as my another contraction hit. She was alone, or she felt alone. There were many healers buzzing around her, trying to make her comfortable. 'My lady it won't be long now.' Sif let out a small cry of annoyance, she wanted this whole ordeal over. 'Where is Loki?!' She snapped as one of the women put a cushion behind her. 'My lady the King has been informed, he will be here when he can.' She wasn't wrong, Loki came bursting though the doors moments later, he rushed to her bedside and took her hand. 'Where have you been?!' She spat at him as yet another contraction flared. 'I got here as soon as I could love.' He turned to the nearest healer. 'Is there not anything you can do for her temperature?! She is burning up!' He shouted angrily, the poor woman just went pale and shook her head. 'I am sorry my lord, even if there was it wouldn't help until the child is delivered. Loki snarled, not happy with this answer. Sif let out another cry of pain, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, Loki ran his fingers through her hair trying to sooth. Delivery began quickly after, Sif did all she could but her body struggled. 'My lady you are doing well, just one more and I promise it will be over.' Sif readied herself and gave it all she had, Loki winced slightly as she crushed his hand, he had forgotten how strong she actually was. Towards the end Loki noticed Sif's skin turn a light shade of blue, he shot a look up to her face and her eye had become a watery red, his eyes opened wide and he mouthed the word 'No' over and over. The room fell quiet for several seconds. Then it hit, the sounds of a newborn child rung in everyone's ears. Loki removed his gaze from his wife and looked to his child, it was a normal colour. He breathed a sigh of relief, he looked back to Sif, her skin slowly returned to a normal colour and her eyes reverted back to her hazel colouring. The healer handed him the child, he looked down upon it with a smile. 'It is a boy my lord.' This made his smile grow, he had an heir. He turned back to tell his wife but upon gazing on her he found she was unconscious. 'Sif!' He handed the child to one of the many women in the room. 'My love, wake up.' He looked up at the woman fussing around her. 'What has happened?!' He ordered, his voice cracked. It was revealed that Lady Sif had entered a coma, her body had shut down after the birth to recover.
She awoke three days later, confused. She sat up and looked around, she was no longer in the infirmary, she was in her own bed. 'My lady, it is good to see you awake. Now lay back down, you are far from ready to be getting up.' Her ladies maid came to her side and placed a cold flannel on her head, Sif felt herself cooling. 'Still so hot, we hoped you would cool down by now.' This stirred something in the Queen and her eyes shot open again. 'How long-' 'three days my lady. We feared you may not wake. It's not everyday a woman gives birth to a half Asgardian half frost giant child.' She said coolly. 'What? Where is Loki? I must speak with him.' She tried to sit up again but the woman held her down. 'He will be back later my lady. He hasn't left your side for days but an announcement needed to be made, so he will return when he is done. Bless his soul, he demanded you be moved from the infirmary and placed in the comfort of your marital bed. He cares deeply.' The maid left the room shortly after, whistling to herself. Sif moved fast, she swept from her bed and tied her hair into a neat bun before finding the nearest dress she could. 'This will have to do.' She sighed before leaving her chambers slowly, she was still weak. She came to the door of throne room, if he was making an announcement this is where he would be. Before she opened the door she heard the worried cries from the maid she had left behind, she ignored it and cracked the door open slightly to hear the sound of cheering and the chorus 'long live the Queen' echoing around the hall. She caught a glimpse of Loki, stood above them all with his head held high, a slight smirk on his face. The room fell silent when she entered fully, all eyes fell on her, Loki turned to see her and froze. He ordered everyone to leave abruptly and came to greet her, he placed his arms around her. 'My love I feared you were gone from me. You should not be out of bed, look at you.' He scraped the rest of her hair back with his fingers. 'I needed to see you.' He had a strong feeling he knew what she needed to talk about. He lead her back to their chambers and ensured she was laid back back down before perching by her side and taking ahold of her hand. 'Loki...what did the maid mean when she said our child was half frost giant? Is this true?' He nodded slowly, not looking at her. 'Yes my love, we knew there was a chance. He looks normal, it's just...' Sif looked to him intently. 'It is just what?' 'His eyes, they are...red. He also has markings on his skin.' Sif didn't speak, she knew she what she had gotten herself into, she just needed to see her child. 'I want to see him, I want to see our son.' Loki nodded once and shot a knowing look to the maid, she scurried off and later returned with the boy, placing him in his mother's arms. The child opened it's eyes slightly and she saw it, blood red consumed where there should be white. She traced a finger along the markings on his face. Loki sat watching quietly, a smile grew on his wife's face and she looked to him. 'It doesn't matter, I love him regardless.' Loki moved closer and put an arm around her, looking down at his son. Sif's duty as a Queen had been fulfilled, Loki had an heir and they had their own family.
