So this quick theory just formed while I was watching clips of Pearl being funny and weird, and most of them were her "clinging" to Garnet. This simply makes me think that pearls tend to get "attached" to more powerful gems, such as Pearl to Rose or Garnet. As well as the Yellow and Blue Pearls with their Diamonds, they seemed pretty attached.
