WARNING! SPOILER ALERT:
So I heard a theory!
In the book and movie of "Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets" we see Draco rip out a piece of paper from a book at "Flourish and Blotts". The point here is, that later on in the book/ movie we see hermione with a ripped piece of paper describing the basilisk... As Dobby served the Malfoys, he knew something was going on and warned Harry not to go back to Hogwarts. If Dobby knew, then Draco would for sure!
So he ripped out the page of the book that he later slipped in somewhere for Hermione or hid it in a book for her to find... In other words:
Draco helped the golden trio save Hogwarts!
