Dean's POV
I was sitting on the couch when I saw Cas and his wife were coming out of his room. I was going to talk to Cas. I had to get this off of my mind.

He came over and sat next to me on the couch.

"Cas, can we talk?" I asked him.

"Yeah. What do you want to talk about, Dean?" He asked me.

"Let's talk in the guest room." I said.

He nodded, we stood up, and headed into the guest room. We sat on the bed in the guest room.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" Cas asked me.

"Cas, I think"I paused for a minute and looked down at the ground

Wait, can't Cas just read my mind? Maybe I don't have to say anything. Maybe I can just say it in my head and he'll hear it.

I looked back up at Cas but he was just looking at me.

"Can you still read my mind?" I asked him.

He shook his head.

I was confused. I thought he said vampires could read minds.

"I thought you said vampires could read minds?" I ask him confused.

"They can. I can read everyone else's minds but now, I can't read your mind. I can't even make out what your thinking about. It's very confusing." He said.

I nodded.

"Cas, I think I'm going to get a job and save up to by myself an apartment." I told him.

"Why? What if something happens and I can't be there to protect you?" He said and immediately looked down at the ground after he realized what he just said.

"Cas, why do you care so much about me buying an apartment. I'll be fine. If I need you, I can just call you." I said.

"Dean, I'm supposed to be your protector." He said.

I looked at him quizzingly. There was something more than him just being my protector.

"I don't think that's it, Cas. I think there's something more other than you being my protector." I said to him.

He looked back up at me.

"Why do you want to get your own apartment anyway? Don't you like staying at my house?" He asked.

Well, he just completely ignored my question but anyway, I'll answer his question.

Of course I do. It's just that, you're family's here, Cas. Your son and your wife are here. They're vampires, I feel like an outsider, and I feel like I'm intruding just by being here." I told him honestly.

He put his hand on my right shoulder and I immediately felt a shock run through my whole entire body. The strange thing was, it was a good kind of shock.

"First, she's my ex-wife. Second, you're not intruding. Yeah we're all vampires but I don't think they care about you being a human. I mean, take me and Bryan as an example. I like having you here and Bryan enjoys hanging out with you. Now, my ex-wife, she'll need some time to get used to you but I think she'll be ok with you." He said and chuckled lightly.

"I don't know, Cas. I also feel like this place is getting kind of crowded. You have your ex-wife and your son here. They both sleep in your room. Don't you think your son wants a room of his own?" I asked him.

He thought about it for a minutes and then nodded his head.

"I guess you're right. But still, what if you get hurt and I can't get to you? If you're here, I don't have to worry about not being there in time." He said.

It's like he wanted me to stay really badly.

"Cas, what's the real reason you want me to stay here?" I asked him.

"We're best friends, Dean. I don't want you to leave." He said. I looked into his eyes and I could see they were getting watery.

"Cas, don't cry. It'll be ok. I'll be ok, don't worry." I said and pulled him into a hug.
