Elvis

I woke up the next morning fully refreshed and energized which was strange considering I had to take pills in order to be able to sleep the previous night.

I went about my usual morning routine which included having my devotion, taking a bath, having breakfast and getting into my car and driving off to work, except if its on a weekend where I would gladly stay in bed till late in the afternoon where I would go for a run around town or on some weekends, pass the gym where I wasted my time. Don't get me wrong on the wasting my time bits, I mean I never exercised when I go there, instead, I sit there watching other people work out.

Today was a workday and the fact that I was feeling refreshed was an added bonus.
I couldn't wait to see Sandra  the  girl of my dreams. I got my car keys from the counter, locked up, got into my car and drove to work.

Work was tirring as ever, and the worst thing was the endless documents I had to go through before lunch break because I had skipped a day of work within the week so I could go visit the hospital for a check up. It's not like I was sick, I just felt like paying the doctors a visit. Note the sarcasm.

I was hunched over my desk leafing through documents upon documents when there was a knock on my office door. Ushering the person in, I raised my head up from looking through the documents to meet the eyes of Mr. Davidson.

Mr. Davidson was the manager of the company which Sandra and I worked for, the company specialized in producing non alcoholic  drinks and alcoholic drinks,  which was widely sought after in the market.

Mr. Davidson managed the company with strictness and all seriousness.  He hardly smiled, and I can tell you that in all my years of working in the company, I have never seen him smile, and am not exaggerating.    The only time he was seen to be smilling was when he fired a worker, he seemed to enjoy that very much, so seeing him in my office that morning was a big surprise to me and more astonished was I when he smiled up at me upon entering my office. There was surely trouble in paradise.

I immediately became alert as I watched his every move like a hawk circling it's pray.  He sat down uninvited, the impudence of a dying cockroach.  I wish I could puncture his big bloated stomach that looked like five grown men could fit in all at once with a needle and watch all the air come out until there will be nothing left.

I chuckled lightly at these thoughts, before realising he was talking to me and diverted my attention back to him.
He came to congratulate me on my hard work these past months. Wait!, maybe I didn't hear right, so I cleared my ears and asked him again.

Yep!, he said the same thing again, I heard right the first time. He came to congratulate me on a good work done, wait!, does that mean I was getting a raise?.

He  admired   how I had devoted my time to making the company a good place for the workers and also for the raise in the purchase of the company's products due to my marketing skills, but no raise, Boohoo.

He told me to take the rest of the days of because I had earned it and I thanked him as I bid him farewell and closed the door behind him.
I jumped up in joy as soon as he had left, at least, having a day of was better than nothing.  As if on cue, the clock struck one o'clock indicating it was time for my lunch break, I strode towards Sandra's office.

The door opened abruptly, catching me by surprise and  causing me to trip and fall on my butt in an ungentlemanly fashion. I lay down on the floor and closed my eyes in pretence of being dead.  She looked concerned as she she tried to help me up and panicked when I was unmoving.
