In and out
Family is good
Elvis:Mom has been in the hospital with me all week and I am happy to say am healing gradually. The doctor said I would be out of the hospital in no time if I continued to take the drugs and medication like I was doing.
Mom went home as usual to go and prepare for the next day. I took my phone from under the pillow, where it I placed it days ago and it has being for a while now and punched in my password. Two voice mails. But who would it be from, it was an unknown number.
I opened the first voicemail and listened.
Hello, this is Sandra,if you get this I want you to know that I have been kidnapped, and right now I don't know where I am,I can only say I have been taken out of town to somewhere in the Eastern region, in a town called Kwahu, And I want to say that in case we never get to meet again, I want you to know that I have always loved you, even though I have never being brave enough to tell you. Pause , I love you.I couldn't believe my ears, my Sandra, my baby, my life, my joy says she loves me. I couldn't believe it. I needed to get out of this setback called a hospital and go and look for my beloved, my Juliet, my Miranda, my Desdemona. I tried to get up from the bed but was forced to lie back when my leg connected with the bed and a jolt of pain shot through my entire frame.
I gritted my teeth in pain as I tried to force back the tears that threatened to fall, here I was in a hospital bed when my Sandra was elsewhere in trouble and miserable. I will not rest until I have saved my beloved. You might think this is reckless of me but I stripped the tubes upon winding tubes that were preventing me from moving and headed out of the room.
I winced as my feet hit the floor, the pain that jolted through me was too much so I doubled over on the floor, trying to catch my breath. I needed to move on, for the sake of Sandra. She needed me now more than I needed her right now.
I needed to go and save her, she was vulnerable. I sneaked into the nurses changing room, making sure to keep out of the open so as not to be spotted. I adorned myself in one of their overalls, and headed out. As I neared the main entrance out of building, I heard a voice say "excuse me", immediately, I quickened my pace and was out of the hospital in no time. I ducked for cover as a nurse got out of the hospital in a hurry.
I waited as she moved to her truck, then I came out and headed to my friend Paulo's end. Paulo lived in one of the nicest part of Accra, Legon. He lived in an estate . As I approached his end, I thought hard about what I was going to tell him. I know he was a difficult person but I knew exactly how to convince him.
The door opened as soon as I rung the doorbell, revealing a grumpy and tired looking Paulo. He grumbled as he set eyes on me."what do you want?", he asked as he turned his back to me and headed inside, I followed.
Why do you always pop up at the at the wrong time?", he asked as he turned his back on me. I need your help, I told him as I went about telling him the details of my plan. As I expected, he refused downright to help me but after threatening to tell his girlfriend of his affairs with other women, he gave me his car keys as he looked at me worriedly.
you don't look fit enough to drive, he said and snatched the car keys from me as he offered to drive me. I smiled silently to myself.
Paulo put the car into motion.
The drive to my end took less than an hour, and by the time I got there, I realised my mistake. Firstly, my mom will get a heart attack when she realised my presence, second of all, she would take me straight back to the hospital pulling me by the ears no doubts.I lived in Achimota, a suburb of Accra. It was not so overpopulated like some places like chorker and its environs.
I turned back abruptly and told Paulo to drive me to the nearest department store where I bought a couple of clothes for myself and a couple of junk food for the journey.Paulo looked at me quizzically when he spotted the amount of junk food I had in hand. He smiled a sly smile which didn't last even a minute but then again, that was Paulo, he hardly smiled, not until after his wife Demetre died of cancer. It was a sad sight to behold, Rosemary Demetre was the daughter of one of the best lawyers in the state.
Her father owned a five star posh hotel in the busiest part of town, as well as a limousine with a super-hot sexy chauffeur who drove him where ever he went. As if that wasn't enough, he also owned six convertibles and was also the owner of one of the most successful law firms in the country, not forgetting his equally luxurious penthouse.
I have been there once or twice with Paulo and I was equally impressed at how Mrs. Demetre maintained the household. The Demeter's in short were a worthy family. The family of Rosemary had been devastated to learn that their only daughter Rosemary was down with cancer and tried their best to restore her back to her normal self.
It was therefore a hard blow when Rosemary passed away two months after suffering relentlessly in a hospital bed. From that time onwards, Paulo became a former shadow of himself. He hardly smiles now.
The car came to a halt as we crossed the boundary indicating that we were out of Accra. We were headed to Kwahu in the eastern region.
For the benefit of some of the readers who do not know the locations mentioned in the story, Kwahu is a place in the eastern region of Ghana where people mostly go there during the easter holidays, to celebrate.
Most tourist also go there due to its sceneries and popularity, to experience the rich Ghanaian culture.
