My High School Sweetheart

Chapter 15

          It was Sunday. Kiera pretty much got up ate breakfast, brushed her teeth, and got ready to leave to the mall for a dress. She invited her new friend Mia to come with her since Mia is pretty much the only girl friend Kiera has. She threw on a black crop top that barely showed her belly button, a red unbuttoned flannel, some light blue jeans from Hollister, and black converse. Then she styled her dark hair in curls and made it into a ponytail.

     Then she covered up her blemishes, put on mascara, filled in her eyebrows a bit, and put on lip gloss. As for jewelry, she just stuck to her favorite diamond studs.

    Once she saw Mia outside, she was ready to go."I can't believe you got Ivan Russo to be your date for homecoming. I mean he's like the hottest guy in the entire campus!" Mia exclaimed. "I can't believe it either!" I exclaimed. "So nothing funny has been going on between you two right?" Mia winked. Kiera laughed, "Not like that! But we did kiss the other day." "Really?! Is it true that he's a good kisser?" Mia said amazed. "I guess it is true!"  Kiera laughed. Then a Drake (famous rapper) song came on, and Mia turned up the volume while Kiera started singing along with Mia.
        They got to the mall and went to Dillard's first to see if they had any dresses for homecoming. "What do you think about this white dress?" Mia asked. "Nah cause what if you get punch or something all over it." Kiera said. "Yeah you're probably right. I guess I'll just get this pink one then." Mia sighed. "Yeah and I think I'll get this pretty blue one." Kiera smiled.

They bought the dresses and left to Charlotte Russe next to buy some shoes. "Have you ever tried heels?" Kiera asked Mia. "Yeah I wear them sometimes. What about you?" Mia smiled. "I think I've only worn them once for my cousin's quinceñera, and they weren't even stilettos." Kiera laughed remembering her 12 year old self. "Well then looks like we've got some work to do!" Mia got up and looked Kiera up and down. She got some vermillion stilettos, and made Kiera walk around in them. Kiera was trying on all types of heels. Her and Mia were even slow dancing for practice. All this practice eventually turned into jokes and laughs.
Eventually, Kiera bought some black heels, and they left. Before they left the mall, they ate some cinnabons and watched a movie. "Hey, you want to go to this party nearby?" Mia asked. "I don't know. Last time I went to Ashely's party and a bunch of drama started." Kiera said. "Well that was a big party. This one is more of a laid back type of party. There will only be like 20 people there. I heard that Ivan is going to be there." She tapped Kiera's arm with her elbow and winked. "I guess." Kiera sighed.
So Kiera called her dad saying that she might be home a little late.
They arrived at what appeared to be a regular house with a large yard. "Who's party is this by the way?" Kiera asked. Mia smiled and said,"Darien Castillo's. You know my date." She winked at those words. Kiera smiled and rolled her eyes.
Mia knocked on the door. Darien opened the door holding a red plastic cup and said, "Oh hey babe! You guys decided to come huh! Come in everyone's here already." Mia and Kiera walked in.
Inside everyone was sitting on the large couch laughing and being dumb like normal teens. Darien then grabbed Mia's hand, and they sat down together. Kiera awkwardly stood there for about 5 seconds, until Ivan saw her. "What's up!" He smiled. "Nothin much, it's just that Mia wanted to come and I was just like whatever I guess I'll go." Kiera grinned back. "You want a drink?" Ivan asked. Kiera looked up and said, "Nah I'm not thirsty." "You sure?" He grinned. "Yeah I'm sure." Kiera said.
Kiera sat down next to Ivan, and watched Drew make dirty jokes. Then this kid named Michael started telling funny stories from when him and Darien were 10. Then Ivan threw in some rap music, and everyone started dancing. Then Kiera unintentionally started dancing. Not just any type of dance. In fact she had so much rhythm it almost looked like she was a pro. Everybody backed away and cheered for her. Although she was kinda embarrassed, she still continued to dance. "Woah! I didn't know you could dance that good!" Ivan exclaimed. "It's a hobby." Kiera replied. "More like a talent." Ivan grinned. Kiera blushed and tried not to look away from his gaze. "Hey everybody! Who wants to play some basketball!" Darien said holding a basketball. Everybody yelled "Yes!" and left.
         Everybody divided into teams of 10 and started the game. "Hey that's not fair! They have Ivan and Drew on their team!" A guy named Steven shouted. Ivan and Drew ignored him and began the game on their own. Kiera and Ivan's team won by 20 points. Everyone was exhausted, and decided to walk back to Darien's house to start a bomb fire in his backyard.
          More music blasted and the guys started to play pool. Mia and Kiera decided to sit by the bomb fire since they were pretty exhausted from playing ball. Ivan then when up to Kiera. "You know what, I think I'm going to go play some pool." Mia winked and left. "So, are you having fun?" Ivan asked. "Yeah!" Kiera laughed. Ivan kissed Kiera's forehead which left Kiera pretty flustered since she hasn't gotten used to this yet. "Sit." Ivan had his hand on his lap. "What?! No!" Kiera exclaimed, flustered. "Why? Couples do it all the time." He laughed. "Well yeah but," Kiera said. "But what? It not like we are having-" "Ok fine!" Kiera cut Ivan off. She sat down on his lap, and let his arms wrap around her waist.
         "Who wants In n Out!" Darien exclaimed. "Are you hungry?" Ivan asked Kiera. "Yeah." Kiera laughed. So Darien and Michael left and bought everyone some burgers. The rest of the night Drew started prank calling random numbers, everyone started dancing to their favorite song, one person had a bit too much (Steven), and continued to play baseball with beer cans. Unfortunately Steven ended up breaking the neighbors window.
             It was a night Kiera would never forget.
