It was Kiera and Ivan's first date besides homecoming. "I've never been this stressed out on what to wear my whole life!" Kiera thought. Finally Kiera chose an outfit, and left to the restroom to do her hair and makeup.

She curled her hair a little, did her usual makeup except put on some eyeshadow that was just a shade darker than her usual, some light red lipstick, and put on her black heels

She curled her hair a little, did her usual makeup except put on some eyeshadow that was just a shade darker than her usual, some light red lipstick, and put on her black heels. Something about the heels just made her feel way more confident and way more independent. She then texted Ivan that she was ready, and merrily went down stairs.
She sat on the couch waiting for Ivan to honk from outside. She was expecting to watch a little tv, but once she sat down on the couch, she was irritated to find her brother watching an old episode of Spongebob. "Come on Jacob! You watch tv all the time!" Kiera exaggerated. "Cause I always get here first." Jacob remarked. "So! Can't you be nice enough for once to let your older sister watch tv." Kiera rolled her eyes. "No thank you." Jacob smirked. "Ugh!" Kiera just decided to ignore him. She was going to leave in a little bit anyways.
She decided to rely on her "best friend" YouTube for some entertainment while she waited. Then, about 5 minutes later, Kiera went upstairs to see her dad really quick.
She walked into his room quietly, and once she did, she saw her father break down in tears. "Are you ok dad?" Kiera asked. "Yeah I'm fine, it's just that you remind me so much of your mother when we were young." He sniffled. After Kiera's mom left, her dad was like a complete wreck. Ever since he was diagnosed with depression, Kiera started thinking that maybe he's had depression ever since her mom left.
Her dad was always brave and never liked it when people worried too much about him, so it would make sense why he would hide his own sadness. Him breaking down like this, reminded Kiera of all the times she's heard her father cry at night. When she was little, she thought he was just being a big crybaby, but now she's finally realized that this is just a side effect of what happens when you give someone all your love and they just throw it all away like it was trash and you meant nothing to them even when they meant the world to you. "I can't imagine how much that hurts." Kiera thought and hugged her dad, tightly
Ivan came about 10 minutes later, in a red Mustang from the 1960s. "New car, aye?" Kiera smirked. "I didn't even ask for it this time. Can we talk about this later and have a good time for once." He laughed. "Ok." Kiera whistled and hopped right in.
The drive went by smoothly and surprisingly quietly. When Kiera saw the movie theater, she rolled her eyes and laughed,"Wow, the movies. All cliché!" "Look, I was nervous! Besides didn't you say you wanted to watch that one movie, 'Boo! A Madea Halloween'?" He grinned. "Oh yeah!" Kiera exclaimed happily.
After the movie, the two went to Starbucks to get some drinks, and headed to the park. "So, explain the car." Kiera rested her head on her hands. Ivan ran his fingers through his hair and sighed, making Kiera regret even reminding him.
"Well where do I start? Let's see, um well, my mom is crazy and thinks that she can bribe me into leaving my dad." Kiera frowned and leaned in a bit closer. "Look, I just can't leave my dad. If I leave him, then I don't know what he'll do with himself. When I was younger, my dad and I were so close, and just to see him like this hurts me so much. How can I just leave the man who was actually there for me throughout my childhood for a woman who I barely even get to see." He looked down and played with the peeling paint on the wooden table they were sitting on.
"While I may not know what it feels like to have a mother fighting over me, I know what it feels like to see your own dad in pain." Kiera looked up. "Kiera, I can't do this anymore. I don't know what to do." His eyes got a bit glassy. Kiera got up and hugged him tightly for comfort.
Then all of a sudden she thought of a song she had just listened to the other day."If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?" Kiera sang, quietly on accident. "Yeah that sounds like a good idea." Ivan smiled. Kiera broke away, embarrassed. "Let me guess, 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol?" He raised his brow. "Um, yeah. Sorry that came out on accident." Kiera awkwardly smiled. "It's ok, I listen to songs like that sometimes too, so it's no big deal." He laughed.
He came in and kissed her forehead before she said anything else. Kiera blushed a little and began to tickle him since she knew where his one ticklish spot was, which was his left side. "No! Stop!" He laughed hysterically. It felt really good for Kiera to see him having a good time. To her, it kind of felt like one of those moments you wish could last forever.
Kiera got home at around 9:30 pm, changed, took off her makeup, brushed her teeth, and brushed out her hair, which ended up looking messier than usual after brushing. Soon, she knocked out since she was so tired.
Later on she woke up to the same Christina Perri song that reminds her of Ivan. She hopped out of bed and heard someone knocking on her window. It was Ivan again. She quickly opened the window.
"Can I come in?" He asked politely. "Ok first of all, why don't you have a shirt on, and second of all, what are you doing here?" Kiera cleverly announced. "Well to answer your first question, I don't like wearing shirts and to answer your second one I don't trust Darien staying awake all night while holding a Sharpie when I'm asleep." He replied. "Well then, I guess." Kiera laughed. "I'll just leave before your dad wakes up I guess." He smirked. "Yeah he usually wakes up in the afternoon, so don't worry about him waking up before you do." She laughed.
Ivan hopped out of the window, and fell straight into Kiera's bed. He must've been tired too because when he got comfortable, he was starting to have a noticeably hard time staying awake. Kiera jumped in as well, and fell asleep in his arms peacefully.
The morning started off a bit strange. The first thing Kiera saw when she woke up, was Ivan scrolling through his phone. She was still laying down beside him, but he appeared to have his arms in the air, phone in hand, scrolling through Instagram. Then soon enough, he dropped his phone and it fell on his face. (Comment if u hate when that happens 😂) Kiera couldn't help, but giggle. "It's not funny!" He laughed.
"You're finally up sleeping beauty?" He raised his brow and smiled. "Yeah, I guess." Kiera said. Ivan got up, and at that moment, the door opened. Jacob walked in. Seeing a shirtless boy sitting right next to your sister on her bed, especially in the morning, does not give you the best assumption, if you know what I mean. "Okay, I'm just going to pretend I didn't see that," Jacob began to walk out. "Wait! Jacob! Don't tell dad!" Kiera exclaimed. "Make me!" Jacob grinned. "I'll give you 20 bucks, and I'll even buy you a new skateboard!" Kiera said. "Promise?" Jacob said.
                  "Promise." Kiera reassured him.
