Darien
"I'm moving in with my mom." Ivan said. "Dude what am I going to do, I'm unemployed. Plus I don't have the money to look for another place." I said. "Get a job then." Ivan suggested. "But even just getting a minimum wage job won't pay the bills." I said as I ran my fingers through my hair. "Well Darien, you're going to have to find a job eventually, I mean you are going to be a dad." He said. "Well I mean don't get me wrong I have been looking but I haven't applied. I guess now I gotta get serious about it." I said.
"You know what would be a good idea too?" Ivan said. "Mia should move in." WOAH THATS TOO BIG OF A MOVE! "What the hell Ivan! That's like you asking Kiera to move in with you!" I exclaimed. It's not that I didn't want her to move in, it's just that I feel like it's a huge move and that she'd be against the idea. What will her parents think about all this?!
"Well you guys are eventually going to have to do it. You're having a kid together, so wouldn't be easier rather than having custody issues?" I gotta admit, he does have a point.
"I mean I gotta ask her." I replied. "Well DUR!" Ivan exclaimed.
The next day...
I left the house at 1:34 pm. It is now 1:42 pm and I am as anxious as the day I asked her out for the first time. Negative thoughts filled my mind despite Ivan's hour long motivational speech. About five minutes later, my sweaty palms finally gained the courage to ring the doorbell. Click! It's her mom. "Oh hey Darien! What brings you here today?" Mrs.Lancaster asked me kindly. "Hello Mrs.Lancaster! I came to see Mia." I urged, trying to not seem too anxious.
"Oh she's in her room as always." Mrs. Lancaster said and let me in. I walked towards her room and anxiously knocked. "Oh hey Darien!" She said happily. Her beautiful smile made me feel a bit less nauseas.
I walked in and urged, "Mia.... I need to ask you something," I said, rubbing the back of my neck. "What is it." She uttered putting her hands on her hips.
"Do you want to move in with me?!" I said as quickly as I could. I looked at her and saw a very shocked Mia. "Look, I've been thinking about it, and I think it'll be a good idea considering we're having a kid." I explained. "Um... well, wow I'm extremely shocked. Don't get me wrong babe, I'd love to live with you, but I just didn't expect that to come out of your mouth." She said while running her hands through her hair.
"I have to talk to my dad about it." She finally said. My anxiety skyrocketed at that moment. I hope Mr. Lancaster likes me enough to let his daughter live with me.
On my way home now. I really wish I had a car now, but now I gotta work for that. Everybody else has abandoned her except my grandma and Mia. Even my own mother says I'm a disgrace. This is all my fault. Everything's my fault. I did this to Mia so carelessly that now I wish we could have waited. I'm not ready for a kid. I could just leave Mia, but not only do I love her, I also never had a father figure so I want to be there for our baby. I don't want to run away from my mistakes no matter how tempting it may be.
And there she is. The woman who has neglected her own son. Me. "You are a disgrace in God's eyes. Committing such adultery is disgusting at your age!" I heard her exclaim in front of me. I tried ignoring her, but that didn't stop her. "Poor girl! Don't you see what you're doing to her life Darien! You'll never get anywhere in life with that kind of burden!" My child is not a burden!
I stopped and shouted, "Just wait until you see me walking up those steps to receive my diploma!" My eyes are getting watery. "I highly doubt it! Just put that child up for adoption and all you're worries will disappear!" She screamed. "Bullsh*t!" I exclaimed and escaped the argument.
I hate it when people judge teen parents. At least I'm doing a better job at parenting than her and my kid isn't even born yet! Whatever. Forget about it Darien.
