Chapter Nine.... Kayleb

The patrol boat came, and they took Waverly to the hospital. She had to have some sort of surgery. I'm not exactly sure what it was. She woke up several times, but each time she was groggy and acting kind of strange. She said that she didn't remember what happened. She didn't even remember when she woke up in the hospital. It was like every time was the first time for her. The doctors said that they would wean her off of the pain and sleepy medicine during the night and she would be able to go home in the morning. That night I slept over at Paxton's house to keep him company since his dad was sleeping at the hospital. I went home to get some stuff for the night. Jaycob was gathering his stuff to take over to Paxton's house because he was sleeping over to. "This is all your fault you know." I said.

"Dude, it could have happened to anyone." He replied.

"You're the one who threw her in the middle of the ocean without a life jacket!" I yelled. "You're the one who put her in danger! You're the one she-"I stopped myself from finishing the sentence. I was going to say 'you're the one she trusts' or 'likes.' "Never mind, just stop being so irresponsible. You're a sophomore in college. You should know better." I turned around to leave, but he shoved me down when my back was turned. I got up and swung my fist into his stomach. Once again I turned to leave, but he had recovered and pushed me again. This time it was harder, and I hit the ground with more force, and my head rammed into the leg of the coffee table. The pain was immediate, and I was scared that I might have started to bleed.

"Don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do. You don't have any right to do that." He screamed. He left me there lying on the floor, I decided not to go over to Paxton's house. I didn't think that I could contain myself if saw him again. I got up slowly and retrieved some ice from the refrigerator. I turned on the TV, but I fell asleep on the coach before the first commercial was over.
