Chapter Fifteen..... Waverly

It had been a couple weeks since Jaycob and I had told everyone that we were dating. And I thought that I was starting to fall in love with him. I was getting ready for a fourth of July party. I had on a red sundress with a white shirt underneath and blue flats. I walked downstairs to see Jaycob, Paxton, and Kayleb waiting for me. I took a double take when I saw that Kayleb had a bright purple bruise on his face. "What happened?" I asked, gesturing to his face.

"Hit my head while I was sleeping." He mumbled as I went to stand next to Jaycob.

"Oh." I said as we filed out the door and into the car.

The drive to the party was silent. I sat next Jaycob in the back. He held my hand the entire time. I didn't believe what Kayleb had said about hitting his head while he was sleeping. I knew from the past that he didn't move around much when he was sleeping. My train of thought was interrupted when we arrived at the house where the party was taking place. There was already people spilling out of the side, and there was music pumping. The bass was vibrating the entire house. I followed the boys in, and then immediately, Jaycob pulled me onto the dance floor. I danced with him for thirty minutes before I got tired.

"Hey I'm gonna go get a drink." I yelled to Jaycob over the loud music. He led me off the dance floor.

"No, you stay here. I'll go get them." He insisted. I agreed, and then he disappeared into the crowd of people.

"Well, well, well. Look who actually showed up this time." I looked up to see Jace undressing me with his eyes.

"Leave me alone. I don't like you. Go find another girl to screw." I said, spitting in his face.

"I wouldn't go to all the trouble of finding you if you were just some girl." He said.

"Have you been following me?" I asked horrified.

"I wouldn't call it following you, more like keeping tabs." He said. "And I'm afraid that I don't like what I see. You've been cheating on me, Princess."

"How could I cheat on you when you we were never together?" I asked, trying to stall time. He chuckled.

"Feisty. I like it." He said, grabbing my hand roughly. I tried to pull away, but he only tightened his grip on my wrist.

"Ow, ow, ow!" I screeched.

"Sorry, Princess. I can't have you running away from me now, can I?" He said. "Let's go upstairs." He said, dragging me to the nearby staircase.

"No! Stop!" I yelled.

"What do you think you're doing?" A familiar voice said from behind me. Jace stopped and turned to look to find Kayleb standing there angrily. I could almost see the fire in his eyes. Jace let me go.

"We were just talking weren't we, Princess?" he said looking at me. I didn't say anything. "Well, I have to go." He said, walking away hurriedly.

"Thank you Kayleb!" I said, giving him a hug.

"Anytime." He said. "Follow me." He took off, and I followed him inside an empty bedroom.

"Kayleb, what really happened to your cheek?" I asked.

"Waverly, I'll tell you later, but I need to tell you something else now. So here goes." He took a deep breath. "Waverly, I like you a lot. I like you a lot as more than friends." He said looking down. I stood there speechless. "In fact, I think that I've loved you since we were seven." He said, looking into my eyes. "I know that you probably don't feel the same way about me, but I had to try." He said, his brow furrowed. His comforting brown eyes were searching mine for some sign of acknowledgement. "Waverly, can you look me in the eye and tell me that you don't have any feelings for me?" He pleaded.
