Chapter Eighteen..... Kayleb
She gave me the brush off again. I couldn't stand it anymore! I had to talk to her. I would have t corner her at the party. "Kayleb, help me put up this banner." My mom ordered from outside. We were decorating for Waverly's surprise birthday party. Not only was getting her boating license a great gift, but it was an awesome way to keep her out of the house. My mom made me run all sorts of errands. I had to pick up the cake, buy more balloons, and get more snacks. When I got home, I found my mom in a panic. Yellow, pink, and orange streamers were everywhere. She was ordering Jaycob around. I took one look at her, and I knew it was crunch time.
"People are supposed to be arriving in twenty minutes!" She screamed, going into overdrive. I quickly ran around in circles, trying to do everything that needed to be done. Surprisingly, we got it done with seconds to spare. As more people showed up, Waverly got closer and closer to home. I was just able to see her expression on the boat as she figured out that the party was for her. People that didn't even know her surrounded her. She didn't look very happy. I could tell that the smile on her face was fake. She hated it when people pretended to like her just look cool.
I saw her slip away from the hoard of people, ask someone a question, and then head off walking towards my house. I knew that this was my chance to talk to her so I followed her slowly. I was not gonna let her get away this time. I was determined to sort everything out. It was probably now or never.
