Chapter Sixteen.... Kayleb
I couldn't believe that I had the guts to kiss her. Not only did I kiss the love of my life, I kissed my brother's girlfriend. Oh, crap. Jaycob. That's why she was freaking out. I just kissed her, and she liked it. She basically just cheated on him, not that he didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve her. I don't care if his feelings are real now. The fact that he went into an relationship with her just to spite me, means that he isn't ready for a real commitment. I thought about this as I stood alone in the empty bedroom.
I exited the room. I didn't feel like hanging around by myself so I called Paxton and asked him where he was. I followed his directions, and I found him talking about sports with a bunch of other guys. I joined the conversation. When there was a break in conversation, I asked Paxton if he had seen Waverly and my brother.
He took me aside and whispered softly, "Jaycob took her to the police station. Jace was here, and he tried the funny business again." His expression scared even me. "I was waiting for you before I decided to go find him and teach him a lesson." He said menacingly.
"Hold on Pax. If they went to the police, he will learn his lesson. You don't need to get in any trouble." I said.
"He hurt my sister he deserves to pay." He insisted.
"I know, but Waverly wouldn't want you to get in trouble. He's gonna be dealt with okay." I said trying to calm him down.
"At least let me talk to him." Paxton persisted.
"I can't stop you. I think a little conversation may be just what he needs." I agreed.
We circled around the house multiple times, but Jace was nowhere to be found. We gave up at around midnight when the party was winding down. Paxton called Jaycob and told him to come pick us up, seeing as they took the car. I let Paxton take the front seat. I listened to Jaycob tell Paxton that the police had issued a restraining order. I stared out the window and wondered what would happen now. Would Waverly leave Jaycob for me? I doubt it. She's too nice to do that. Does that mean that I have to wait until he breaks her heart? I can't let that happen.
We pulled up at the house, and I got out of the car and walked into the house. As I got ready for bed, I decided that I would try to talk to her about it. I jumped into the covers and fell asleep quickly.
