Chapter Ten.... Waverly
I woke up, for real this time, in the hospital at nine in the morning. I still didn't know what had happened to me. The only thing that I remembered was being on the boat. Other than that my mind was blank from everyting past that point until I woke up for real. I did know that I had been waking up regularly in the middle of the night screaming. Apparently, I had drowned, and then I had surgery of some sort. I'm not sure what kind I had. I tuned out acting like a child. Or so the doctor said. the doctor when he was talking because I was kind of squeamish when it came to the human body, and he was determined to tell me every little detail of the surgery.
My dad checked me out at nine thirty, and instead of driving home we went to go get breakfast since I hadn't eaten since yesterday. We arrived at the local IHOP, and stayed there for at least an hour talking, laughing, and eating an endless supply of pancakes. It was nice because I hardly ever got to spend time with him. We were there at least an hour before we had eaten our fill and finally went home.
I walked through the door with intentions to go up to my room, and relax. I atleast wanted to put on some different clothes. Here's a piece of advice for ya, never let your dad pick out your clothes. Instead suprised by a chorus of welcome home and a bunch of people that I barely knew. "Oh guys you didn't have to do this!" I said with fake enthusiasm.
"Of course we did sweetie! We love you, and everyone was so worried about you. You really scared us all." she said as she came over and gave me a hug.
"Well, let's get this party started!" Paxton yelled. Music blared through the speakers and the guests started to dance. I slipped away upstairs to go change. I threw off the unflattering jogging suit that my dad had brought for me, and I slipped on a fitted orange shirt and a pair of shorts. I swept my hair into an up due and applied some light make up. I also added a couple of bracelets and a pair of earrings. Then I ran down stairs before anyone came looking for me.
Almost immediately, I was bombarded by one of my old 'friends'. Her name was Cassandra and I hung out with her when I was trying to be popular. "Waverly! It's so good to see you! I haven't seen you in forever! I can't believe what happened to you! We were all shocked. I'm so glad that you're okay." She said the last sentence very seriously and compared to the others. I had to try really hard to not laugh.
"Yeah." I said blandly.
She barely heard me. "So last night I was at Kevin's party, and this guy came up to me, and he was like...." She droned on and on about the party yesterday. I stopped listening when I realized that she only talked about herself. I stood there day dreaming for a good fifteen minutes.
"Umm, excuse me but, I need to talk to Waverly." Paxton intervened. I sent him a look of gratitude for saving me. He led me away towards the kitchen.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you for saving me." I said.
"You're welcome besides it's your party, and I wanted you to have fun." He said. Awww, how sweet. I thought.
"Okay, well I better go mingle with the other guests." I said regretfully.
"Yeah okay." he said. "See you later." I turned to go join the rest of the crowd, when someone caught my hand. I turned around.
