"What the hell is a Seraph?" I demanded.
Fetid laughed humorlessly and tossed his hair. "Only the greatest experiment since finding out that head banging is bad for you," he scoffed with an eye roll.
"Everyone knows that head banging is bad for you. What kind of experiment is that?!" I demanded.
"Never mind. The important thing is that it's the only thing that will bring an end to the human race... or vampires."
"ARE YOU INSANE?!" I yelled at Ferid. Mika was next to me, squinting at Ferid like he was an unsolvable equation. Meanwhile, Shinoa was glaring at Mika, tuning out the sound of Ferid's voice. She wouldn't meet my eyes. "If it can kill you, why would you make it? Do you have a death wish? Or are you just stupid?"
Ferid scoffed. "What I am is ambitious. If you can't understand my decisions, it's because you are merely too stupid to comprehend my thought process."
I scowled. Too stupid? I wasn't the one creating a race that would destroy the world.
"What do you want from us, Ferid?" Mika asked in his quiet voice.
"If you'll side with me, I want you to help exterminate the human race. I can give you anything you have ever dreamed of; fame, wealth, anything. All you have to do is join me." Ferid's eyes were bright, and he looked like a madman. My stomach writhed. "Mika, I'll even make you human again."
"I' human. How can you ask me to kill them?" I demanded.
"Fine. I don't need you anyway," Ferid said unsheathing his sword.
