Ferid led me down the same long hallway that Yuu had led me down earlier. He linked my arm through his and reached out to push Guren's door open. "What are you doing?" I hissed at him, but he only winked at me and and continued stealthily opening the door. It had swung open about two inches, and I could see Guren leaning over the face of his desk, listening intently to whoever was in front of him intently. Neither of the two occupants had realized that we were breaching the entrance.

"What are you doing?" I repeated. Then it dawned on me: Ferid wanted to attack Guren in his office, maybe even murder him. I grabbed Ferid's wrist before he could clear the opening and whispered angrily," I'm not going to let you hurt them." The elder vampire cocked his head slightly with innocent amusement in his red eyes.

The visitor's urgent tone rang out from the doorway. "Mika's a vampire." It was Yuu, so distressed by what I'd revealed that he'd actually followed through with his threat and consulted Guren. I froze, guilt filling me up. I'd never meant to worry Yuu. I'd just wanted to let him in on the truth. I yanked Ferid away from the door and dragged him down an array of staircases and to the entrance.

"Get out," I ordered. Fetid's face still shone with that peculiar amusement, although his cheeks were flushed and his hair was tousled. It was irritating to see him looking so sure of himself and so triumphant when he clearly was helpless.

Just then, my head started to throb. I let go of Ferid's cold arm and grabbed at my forehead. My stomach lurched and an uncensored pain sparked through my stomach and limbs. I waited, panting, for the pain to ease away, but it only sharpened. Ferid crouched down and sneered at me, triumph lighting his eyes. "Right on schedule." He snickered. "This is what happens when a vampire doesn't drink human blood.

The agony was unbearable. At that moment, I was willing to do anything to shed the pain. Even, well, kill a human just for nutrients. Footsteps plodded towards us and someone gasped. "Mika?! What the hell..." She ran off muttering "I have to tell  Guren...!"

I looked up at Ferid with tired eyes. The pain was making my eyes water. " I'll join you on one condition. Help me." Ferid's lip tilted upwards at the corner and he nodded slightly, leading me by the elbow back into the Imperial Demon Army's safe house and training building.
