-STILL A FLASHBACK-

-POV: Macy Grey the Minccino

I hate my parents! Why do we have to leave!? Family time... Last time I checked, you guys didn't care if the cold casserole you left us had gone bad when we got home! I persisted as much as I could, but the house was already sold earlier. Apparently, that's what they've been home late for. We already had a house in New Dice City. They tried to convince me that I'd grow to love the city, but I had my mind set to hate it. Claire didn't even care. She just went with it and kept to her phone. I mumbled to myself in anger as we loaded the car with some of our stuff while a shipping company was getting the rest to our new (horrible) home. We pulled out of the driveway. I took one last look at the home I lived in since I was born. I took a last look at the Granville autumn as we left the small-sized town. Goodbye life.

My parents tried as hard as they could to make this 'trip' enjoyable. They tried to convince me to join them in those road trip games families play. Claire continued to text on her phone. I stewed in silence as I looked out the window. During this time, I wondered if it was my fault. I did technically get myself banned from an entire school for my life. I quickly shook the thought out of my head. No. They decided to move because opportunities. I get it. They asked me to at least smile, but I never liked following instructions. I was gonna make a break for it when we stopped. I've never thought of running away until now, but drastic times call for drastic measures. I didn't know what I'd do. When we stop at our hotel, I'll just slip away while they talk at the front desk. Maybe I could catch a bus back to Ohio. Yeah. It could work.

We had lunch at my favorite fast food place, but I never acknowledged the slight happiness I felt. No. I wasn't going to see them again after tonight.

(Note from present day Macy: I was a dramatic little idiot, wasn't I.)

Of course, the hotel was average quality. What'd I expect? Claire decided to go explore the lobby. I didn't tell her what I was going to do. My parents went up to the front desk. At this moment, I took the opportunity and crept out the door and into the night. I went into a sprint down the sidewalk of the busy metro area of the city we were spending the night in. Taxis zoomed by. The autumn air was cold, but I was fine. Flashing lights and honking horns only added to the rush I felt. I continued running until I was out of breath. I soon realized that I had no money to pay for the fee. I didn't wanna stoop down to the level of begging. I also felt my stomach grumble a little bit. I didn't eat much lunch out of anger. Now I was starving for something. I strolled down the street with my head down. I didn't know what to do except walk forward. A few people stared at this young child wandering down the city sidewalk, but nobody talked to me except for one Clefable. She said her name was Candy.

    "I'm Macy," I said.

"Now what is a young little girl doing out here at night?! You could get in serious trouble," she said.

    "Well, I... I got lost," I lied.

"Hmm. Do you remember your parents phone number?" she asked with legitimate concern. Her compassion tugged at my heart a bit. How could a stranger be so nice to a random child?

    "Um. No. I don't," I said.

"Well then, tell me the last place you saw them," she said.

"Um. Ok, but can we get something to eat first. I'm very hungry," I said. She seemed delighted to and let me ride with her to a nearby sandwich shop. Such a nice Pokemon, and they don't even know me besides my name.

She took me into the place and ordered something for me and her. We sat down at a table near the window where she decided to continue our conversation.
