Chapter 5
Alex wanted to get out and run. He wanted to strip to his skin and let the wolf reign. Run through the forest and let this desire he felt dissipate. All said and done he didn’t really have the time and energy to entertain a distraction as big as Kiera.
Oh was she a mighty big one.
Alex slowed his Land Rover to a stop by the edges of the training compound but didn’t get out. Ever since Kiera had left the Day care after filling up those damn forms-bending over and making him lose his mind-he had been uneasy. He had a very strong urge to follow her till she reached wherever she lived.
If his Father saw him in this state right now he would right away know something was up, and he wasn’t sure if he wanted anyone to know about what was doing in his grey matter right now. The thing was, Alex was never distracted enough by anyone or anything quite to this level. Women and girls might find him a bad boy but that wasn’t who he really was.
His mother often said he had taken to his father instead of her. His father was extremely focused on his pack welfare, to the point where he wouldn’t come home for days. Alex was no different.
Sometimes Alex felt he was forty years old instead of his meagre twenty-one. Finishing college at an early age of nineteen he had given his full devotion to his pack. The degree had just been for keep sake. Something to show the humans and keep them satisfied.
Everyone in the town thought the Pack was an elaborate gang running the city. Not a Mafia gang but one that had a way of keeping peace in the town without asking for dues. All the pack asked for was respect and a healthy dose of fear. Before Dark moon had taken over forks and few of the major regions around the town the place had been in a complete chaos because of several tiny gang bangers setting up their base here.
Once Dark moon had set its eyes on the place the puny criminals had run like their backsides were on fire. That was a hundred years ago. Now Dark moon was the boss and none of the other packs trained their eyes on Dark moon lands.
Disgusted at his lack of control over his libido he pushed open the door and leapt out. He would not be distracted by Kiera no matter how beautiful or delicate or tantalizing she was.
Stop thinking of how tantalizing she is!
Alex stormed into the training compound not bothering about the guards. They knew he was. It was time to blow off some heat.
Instead of taking the path to his father’s office he headed towards the sparring grounds. Every worthy wolf in his pack was given a chance to fight and learn the art of warfare. It had become a necessity after the burgeoning cases of Feral fever. Those who turned out the best were taken in as soldiers for the pack. They helped the Alpha in maintaining pack control and getting rid of outside threats.
Dhragirs had no choice but to learn how to fight. His father had pushed him into the training grounds at the tender age of five. Normally training for children started at an age where some sort of mental maturity was developed. Often at the age of eleven or twelve. Years of practice had made him one of the best in the pack.
He stripped of his shirt in smooth motion and threw it aside. The few sparring partners shifted aside to make space for him. He called on one of the most skilled trainers, Rose to be his sparring partner. Rose just raised a single eyebrow at his command. She didn’t take commands very well.
Women were given an equal opportunity as the men in the pack to join the higher ranks of the soldier. Rose had certainly proven herself.
Whoever said men were always stronger than women was a colossal idiot.
