Hey everyone.

I'm really sorry that i haven't updated for so long but i was pretty busy with college. So i have a new chapter for you but this one sadly does not have much of Alexander. It's more of a buffer chapter to get the main plot started. I've kept it short but interesting.

Please don't forget to let me know how you find it.

Also last but not the least, Thank you to all the readers for reading, commenting, voting and becoming a fan :)

Enjoy.

Chapter 7

Kiera stared at the paper in her hand and tried to figure out what the bold block letters were trying to tell her. She looked back up at the receptionist who had a fake smile plastered on her face and was flicking a pen from one hand to the other, again and again.

The repeated motion made her want to wrench the pen from the woman's hand and throw it at the  opposite wall.

Keeping a lid on all that high octane aggression she addressed the red head receptionist in a tone that belied her increasing irritation.

"I think you might have given me the wrong printout. I've already payed the fees and this paper here says i have payed just the advancement. I submitted the photocopy of the draft of the complete payment. Could you please check again?"

The 30-something woman behind the desk leaned back and blew out a breath.

They both had been arguing for the past fifteen minutes over the matter and there was no winner in sight.

"Ma'am, we've already checked. If you could show us the original of the draft we could do something. Until then i'm sorry but you cannot attend the lectures."

Kiera adjusted the bag on her shoulder and curbed the impulse to run her tongue against her front teeth.

This is so not what she needed right now. Sleep-in, Wake up late, Get your crap together, Feed a monkey, rush to Sage's to drop of the said monkey and then rip it to college barely in time.

What a start.

She had underestimated the amount of effort unpacking would take. At one point she had almost been convinced to leave the boxes just as they were. But James rolling around in an empty carton had changed her mind faster than rihana hitting the billboard charts.

She wished she could have called Alexander again to haul the cartons around for her. With those long, strong arms and those sinewey shoulders and all that... STOP!

She hadn't even met the guy after he had left the other day. She was a goof!

Disgusted with herself, she pulled out the cream Manila folder and slapped it on the counter. Maybe it was rude of her to pour her sourness on the woman but she were wrong. Period.

The woman took the folder in her delicate hands with those manicured nails and flipped through the documents. She spotted the draft, put aside the folder and started clicking away at the keyboard.

She looked up after about 20 seconds and smiled at her.

Another fake.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Your papers are right here. I'll just print out the new ones and give them to you."

Told you so.

Kiera took the papers and her folder from the woman and stalked out.

Just before she pushed the glass doors open the profile of the television broadcast on her upper-right corner stopped her. The screen was divided in half and a boy's photo was pulled up. Something about the kid's brown hair and indigo eyes was very familiar. She went closer to the screen an peered at the picture. He looked...Her head snapped back. He was one of the kid's from Sage's daycare.

She remembered him being there when Alexander had dropped James off with the group of kids on the first day. Dear God.

The soft drone of the news reader barely reached her ears but she could make out what she was saying

"Ian McShane, age 5, went missing from his home at around 10pm last night. The parents state that they had just put the child down for the night but when they came to check on him again within the next fifteen minutes, the boy was gone without any trace. There were no visible signs of aggression or a break-in, So the police is  led to believe that  Ian had left the house on his own accord. The parents believe otherwise, saying that Ian had always been a rather well behaved child and was not prone to such actions. The FPD are looking into the matter for further clues on the boy's whereabouts. Any civilian who spots this child is request to alert the FPD immediately.

Next we have the daily weather report..."

Kiera tuned out from that part and moved back a step.

This was supposed to be a small town. No troubles, no issues. But something about the whole Ian situation smelled wrong. No five year old just got up an left without a sound. It just didn't happen.

She pushed the glass doors open and hoped that she was wrong and the kid was found safe and sound. She couldn't handle the paranoia regarding James otherwise. She sighed and started off for her first lecture, Business and Economics.

She had a feeling it was going to be a long, long day.
