LAUREN'S POV

Dangit. I didn't even get to see Y/N this morning.

Not yet at least.

When I walked into my AP English class I saw her drawing in her notebook. I hurried over and made sure I sat right next to her on the left.

I wasn't really aware that I was staring until she looked up to meet my eyes. I can't even remember the last time we've made eye contact so this moment brings a smile to my face.

My eyes travel around her face, taking in all the little details and attributes. There was a cut on her bottom lip and I noticed some slight discoloration on the left side of her jaw. My mind instantly thought the worst and my smile faded.

"What happened?" I asked and hesitantly pointed to the left side of Y/N's face.

"Nothing." She said coldly, returning to whatever she was doing.

"But-"

"Just mind your own business." Y/N cut me off. I decided to leave her alone. The teacher finally came in after a couple minutes.

"Alright class get settled in. Anyone who would like to change seats?" Mr. Brady asks. Movement caught my eye and I looked to see Y/N raising her hand. Wow. Am I really that bad? A couple other people raised their hand.

"Too bad you're stuck there."

Y/N huffed and leaned back in her chair. Well shit I guess I am that bad.

"Alright. First day, paperwork, short classes. Pass this back and fill it out. When you are done do whatever... I don't really care." Mr. Brady said.

Throughout the short class the teacher made small conversations between different students. Y/N had finished her form not even five minutes after the teacher handed it out. She sat next to me either messing around on her phone or drawing while listening to music.

When she wasn't paying attention, I admired her. I knew something was wrong because the more I looked at the discoloration, the more I noticed it was a bruise. Even knowing that, I still thought she was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

Y/N Y/LN was always mysterious to me.

I knew how driven she was when it came to things important to her. From what I've heard, she was actually quite the perfectionist too. It shows, because when I see her set her mind on something, she doesn't stop until it's perfect to her. And I know she sets herself at such a high standard.

I mean, shit, that's why she earned a full-ride scholarship to the best girls' basketball team in America when she was only a freshman.

My siblings had this rivalry that they had to show they were better than the other at everything. Taylor plays basketball so Chris thinks he has to also. When I would pick them up, I noticed Y/N would always stay back and continue working out.

Another thing that amazes me is that Y/N could be the nicest person off the court, but then could play a game and have a whole team fear her. Part of it is probably because she's so good, but she can be pretty scary if someone pisses her off.

The bell ringing cut me out of my thoughts.

Before I could look up, Y/N was already out of the room. I tried following her but everyone crowded around the door waiting to get out. When I finally got out I looked left and right for Y/N but she was nowhere to be found.

"Can't find lover girl?" I heard Normani's voice behind me.

"Ugh Mani not now." I huffed.

"I thought you were going to talk to her?" Mani chuckled.
