Y/N'S POV

"Alright girls. First game of the season is coming up in a week. I want you guys to be ready, practice will last two hours longer than usual." Missy said. All the girls including me started groaning.

"We already practice until seven, Missy." Someone in the back groaned.

"Just for that everyone runs twenty laps. Do you want to make it so you don't get out of here until midnight?" Missy asked threateningly.

"But that's past curfew-"

"Shut up!" I yell.

"Y/N you can run ten more laps for that."

"Are you kidding me?!" I scoff.

"Now you have fifty laps. Don't think you can miss that many practices and act like you don't owe anything." Missy snapped. "Go." Everyone started their running. I ran by myself because I knew if anyone tried talking to me I'd snap at them.

We finished twenty laps and everyone went to huddle around Missy while I continued running. The girls started doing stretches, then ran layups. By the time I finished, I could barely stand up.

Just in time for full court lay ups. Fuck my life. "Y/N why don't you go first." Missy laughed.

I glared at her without her noticing. Three people lined up on each side of the court. One was to the left, the next in the middle on the right, and the other on the left before the basket.

I ran, passing to each person while running at full speed. By the time I got to the last person, I took two steps and completed the layup. I repeated the process going on the other side of the court and making the layup. The other girls followed my lead.

When we finished, we were exhausted to no end. "Get a drink." Missy dismissed us for a break.

"Hey Y/N. Where have you been?" Taylor walks up to me.

"Had a couple altercations that needed to be taken care of." I shrugged.

"Y/N if you're done getting a drink then get on the baseline." Missy commanded. I looked over at her and took a long swig of my water bottle to get my point across. Missy rolled her eyes and walked away to talk to some other players.

"So what happened to your eyebrow then?" Taylor asked.

"Just part of those altercations I told you about." I answered vaguely.

"Y/N!" Missy yelled. "Get over here now." I gulped but kept my face emotionless. I slowly walked towards Missy, dreading what I already knew was bad. When I finally got to her, she was glaring at me.

"I know what happened when I wasn't there after tryouts, and I'm very disappointed in you. You're supposed to be a role model for all of the other girls. I know what could have happened with your scholarship, and I'm also disappointed in that. What's going on with you?" She asked.

"The only people that hate me after what I did are Jazzy and her friends. I stood up for someone, and I am their role model. As for what happened with the cops, that was not in my control. I was defending myself from getting killed. There's nothing going on with me." I crossed my arms.

"You could've gotten yourself killed for trying to show off!"

"Am I dead?" I bluntly ask.
