Chapter 14

Becca sped down every road, not even slowing down to make a turn. She was passionate about it, about protecting her sister, which I didn't think she could do.

By why me right? I thought Becca was hot at the bar, turns out she's in a relationship and actually fucking crazy. I start to like her sister, but that can't be normal either now can it. Her sister goes and sees an abusive ex boyfriend after going out on dates with me.

Why do I get complicated when all I want is simple? I thought Taylor would be simple, especially when she treated my drunk morning situation with ease. I thought this would be a great fucking relationship.

Now Becca admits to me the whole reason why she smokes is because of her sister. Which means Taylor either does something consistently to piss Becca off, or the small things Taylor is oblivious to that keeps Becca on edge.

"Can we please get an update on this guy?" I ask for a second time, holding onto the handle above my head.

"This guy met my sister about a year ago. They had a great relationship, I guess. That's until Taylor wanted more, she wanted him to move to the city with her, to find an apartment together. That's when he lost his cool, convinced Taylor had cheated on him"

"How does that-" I go to ask, wondering how her wanting to settle down correlates with her cheating but Becca interrupts

"It doesn't. Taylor had been just as confused. But he took it as her trying to get him, Calvin, out of Buffalo because she fucked another guy" she laughs to herself, "like Taylor would fuck a guy anyway"

"That's besides the point Becca" I admit, clenching tight to the door when the turn she takes gets a little too fast

"Right, so he blew up on her, forced her to stay in Buffalo with him, not letting her out of his sight. He got very-"

"Possessive" I interrupt, remembering a guy Gemma saw before I left for college. She noticed it early enough to get away

"Exactly. So, once he had Taylor in the palm of his hand, he took things further. I got a call from her maybe like two months ago, she went out to read at the library and when she got home, Calvin was piss drunk. I wasn't able to get to her in time, but he had smacked her around. Threw shit at her, made sure she was too scared to leave his sorry ass"

Becca stops in a parking lot, which I'm assuming is their apartment complex, "my mom had Taylor move in with my immediately after the restraining order was signed. That's why I don't stay at home. I can't stand living with Taylor" she admits, getting out of the car.

I stomp out the cigarette, running up behind her to the town house. Screams could be heard from the bottom and only got worse as we reached the third floor.

Glass is shattered from the other side, with a shriek I can only assume Taylor's. "Open the door Becca!" I feel my adrenaline rushing through me the louder her screams get.

A males voice yells again, with crying followed, "Becca!"

"I'm working on it Brit, haven't used these keys in fucking months okay?" She scrambles to find the correct key, shoving it into the door.

When the door flings open, I see Taylor attempting to guard herself from a tall man with a fist raised high. That's all I needed to see before I jump towards him.

He was big, he was really fucking tall and muscular, nothing to my size; but my adrenaline managed to keep that information to themselves.
