Chapter 12

I had wanted to take Taylor home the moment our lips touched. There was an unexplainable electricity between us that I can't explain, but only feel. It was our moment between us, though it was shared to everyone standing on the street.

The moment could have gone two different ways, the way that it went; and her storming home mad at me for pulling away from a kiss I wasn't sure I wanted.

I let the second moment happen between Izzy and I, so I've learned to recognize what a girl is mad about and change it for the better. I could have let Taylor go home, not just mad but sad I didn't make her feel wanted. But, I knew she would answer my phone calls if I let her go home and I would have gotten beat by Becca.

So, I kissed her, just like I wanted to the moment I laid eyes on her. Well, I guess laid eyes on her sister and then her.

We spent the rest of the night biking and walking around the park, eating all the food truck meals we can. She laughed when I fell off the bike to stop myself from running over a cat; nothing can beat her laugh.

The weekend has come and gone, not receiving any snarky text from Becca or a punch to the balls. I guess I can say I did a good job.

I've called Taylor the last few nights, catching up on our days. She tells me she's off to Buffalo for a story about a paraplegic mom that is now battling cancer. To me, it sounded depressing but how Taylor could take such a sad story and turned it into inspiring makes things easier to listen to.

I love that Taylor is passionate about her work. She speaks so high energy about when she spent a month with a special Olympic baseball team that left for states. She glows when she speaks about team members that laughs and celebrates for a base run.

"I have to get going, my paper is due at midnight" Taylor giggles on the other side, "I still have to write it"

She says goodbye to me over the phone and the line ends shortly after. I can't help but smile after the phone leaves my ear.

After the hour on phone with Taylor, I head out of my room to grab the medical books. Becca is laying on our couch, eating chips while watching the Telly. I'm not sure when she got here or who let her in, but she's made herself at home.

"Coming out to entertain me Brit?" Becca laughs to herself

"I have to study." I grab my books, chuckling at my sight "how the hell did you get in?"

"I made a key" she munches on the food, holding up a new key we didn't approve. My eyes roll to her response, getting another laugh from Becca.

I grab my books, heading to my room but stopped by Beccas feet, "why you giggling in your room?" She smiles, "playing with yourself?"

"Fuck off Becca" I laugh, heading to my room with books.

Something about her being at our apartment all the time worries me. I'm worried about how her life at home is, if she's living at home or in an apartment, whatever she is doing, it's not working for her. She comes over slightly depressed but as the night goes on, she gets happy and bitchy again.

Jason has let her in the past couple nights, she typically stays until one or two but heads somewhere else after that. Of course she doesn't share why she's here or what she's running from, but instead sits on our couch and watches the Telly until she gets bored enough.

I've been asked by Jason many times why she is here, or what she has to give to us for letting her eat our food. But I don't have an answer. And I don't think I could ever have an answer when it comes to Becca.
