Chapter twenty two

Darius' PoV

We hold Theo until Rick breaks away from his brothers, as soon as he's left them Theo breaks away from us and bolts into his arms. I can see it is taking Rick great restraint not to cry so, I like everyone else in the room, turn away from them to allow them some privacy. Shortly after I hear them leave. "I'm sorry. I only wanted to help now I've upset everybody and hurt you further. I'll leave-" Layla starts but Ben interrupts her "you are not leaving here alone. He is out there and he is dangerous. I mean you obviously have nobody to turn to-"

"Ben!" Rob scolds, shocked at his words. "No rob I'm not being rude or mean, I only say that because look at the poor woman her eye is black and blue, if she had someone to turn to she wouldn't be with that monster of a man she could have gotten help and left him. Well Layla, your not alone anymore and you certainly are not going anywhere that he can get to you. You are staying with us now. You did upset people here today but it was necessary because of you we now know who and what we are dealing with. Your safe here with us ok" Layla starts to sob as Ben takes her into his embrace yet again. As he does I notice that her make up has streaks from her tears and it's only then do I realise that he was right she does have an awful looking shiner under it.

I feel anger consume me toward the bastard that hurt such a small sweet lady. Knowing he wants to hurt my family only increases it. Before I can think I punch the wall only my hand never makes contact, I look to my left and notice  Lor has my wrist in his grip "hey, don't do it, don't hurt yourself or lose yourself to the anger it won't help. We all feel it but it's time to get our thinking caps on ok" I know he's right but I'm so fucking angry. "And what Lor? Huh? What if he gets one of you, what will we do then, I'm going to fucking crucify him before he gets a chance. How dare he threaten us! How dare he try and hurt the ones I love-" I'm cut off when I feel Ben's slender fingers pull my face toward his and his plump, beautiful lips are sealed over mine. I freeze momentarily but soon I relax into the kiss.

When we pull away I voice my worse nightmare to him in a whisper as I lay my forehead against his "what if he gets you, I'll die before I let him get you love" he hushes me with a soft kiss to my lips "I won't go anywhere without you love, I know you'll protect me. Remember if I kicked Wills arse I'll do my best to kick his" we laugh lightly. A red eyed Rick and Theo enter the room and not one person will every comment on it, I'm just glad that he finally has someone who he allows take care of him finally. Most of his life he has had to be the one who stayed strong and put his feelings last but not anymore. Theo is his rock and I know everyone in our little family appreciates him for it.

Tegan enters next and tells Ramos he can travel in the morning so we are told by Tom that we need to go to the hotel next to the hospital for the night. We leave Blake and Dom with Ramos and insist that my father and Layla come along for safety sake. Thankfully there was no incidents throughout the night and after a sleepless night for many of us we are back in Ramos' room waiting to leave. By half past ten we are all in the cars provided by Tom. In each car there are two of us and two security men. It seems extreme but is necessary according to Tom. As head of security I believe in him. Rick and Lorcan insisted Tom himself be with us as "the boy" they're childhood nickname for Ben, needed him most.

It's a three hour drive to my old home, the place I grew up, the place I left under horrible circumstances. I'm not exactly excited to be going back there but I know that bridges need to be mended and rifts need to be... Suddenly there is a loud bang and ahead I can see black smoke. Tom swerves just in time but the rear bumper hits the back of the car Lorcan is in ahead of us. Unfortunately Lenny doesn't stop as quickly and his car hits the side of our car, I react quickly and unclip Ben's seat belt just as the car impacts his side door.

I hear shouting and bangs as each car comes to a stop. Tom comes to his senses quickly and jumps out of the car. For fear of an explosion each of us leave our vehicles and judging from the fact we are all moving I take it nobody got badly injured. Tom and his men surround us and it's only then does the situation come to light in the middle of the road there is two men, one standing above the other. The figure on the ground is on his knees, his head is pulled back by his hair and there is a knife at his neck. The figure above is the older almost mirror image of Rick and it's hard to stay in place and not run over and rip his filthy hands off my brother Lorcan.
