– Dean –I slowly regained my consciousness, noticing how cold I was right away. However, the body next to me was emitting heat, so I wrapped myself around it more than I had been before.
Then I realised what I was doing.
Opening my eyes, I drew away from Cas slightly. My arms and legs had been tightly wrapped around him, but I loosened my grip and scooted backwards while his arms remained around me.
He stirred in his sleep and my heartbeat sped up. I felt guilty for having cuddled him while he wasn't aware of it.
Cas's breathing became faster as he awoke, his eyelids fluttering softly before opening. His eyes focused on my face and he grew a small smile, his cheeks tinted pink.
"Good morning," he greeted, his voice a bit raspy from sleep. He turned away and pressed his forehead against my chest.
"G'morning." I turned onto my back and Cas moved closer to rest his head on my sternum.
"I can hear your heartbeat," he told me, placing his hand on the space between my stomach and my chest.
This couldn't be real.
I tried to calm myself by saying it was just Cas, my best friend and my roommate, but I ended up doing the opposite. He lifted his head and turned to look up at me.
"What?" He was still smiling, but slightly confused by the increase in my heart rate.
"Nothing." I shook my head and pushed his back down onto my chest. "I just thought about our plans for today."
Suddenly, Jo opened the door and I pushed him off, sitting up quickly.
"Aw, you're not cuddling anymore." She frowned, stepping inside the room fully.
"Shut up." I furrowed my eyebrows. "We weren't ever cuddling."
"The picture on my phone of you two sleeping says otherwise." She smirked deviously. "Breakfast is ready. You guys should get downstairs before it gets cold."
I groaned as she left. Getting out of bed, I ran my fingers through my hair to look slightly presentable so I could go downstairs.
"Dean." Cas stopped me, looking up at me with his adorable puppy eyes. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" I frowned. "You're perfect."
"For cuddling you after we woke up." He stood up from the bed as well. "Jo probably suspects we're more than friends now."
"Oh, I don't care what she thinks of us." I shook my head. "It's not your fault that she saw us. And I would've told you if I didn't want to. I just want her to get rid of the picture she took while we were asleep."
"Okay." He nodded, still looking sad.
I stepped forward and slipped my arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug. He leaned his head onto my shoulder and I smiled.
"Let's go eat breakfast," I told him, backing away from the hug after a moment.
"Okay." He nodded again, his most common happy expression returned to his face.
