"Cleveland PD has been dealing with three homicides within the last five days. All victims were found and killed in their off campus apartments. The latest one just about an hour ago." JJ summarized, handing out the individual case files. I flipped through the pages, speeding through the notes. The words flew off the page, dancing all around my head.
"Two of the victims are male and only one is female, this guy hasn't found his type yet. He's still working on a solid Modus Operandi, however one thing seems to be in common. Our UnSub uses a blunt object to repeatedly beat them, it's how he kill his victims." I mentioned, looking up from the papers.
Suddenly a loud 'beep' came from our laptop that was always on our table, telling us that Grace was trying to contact us. Emily, with her quick reflexes, pressed answer before I could. "What's up crime stoppers?" Grace greeted.
I smiled at her little alias for us. "Hey Grace, what you got?"
The blonde grinned, staring at a screen beside the one she used to conference us, her fingers flying across the keyboard. "Well sir, I dug down deeper and found some juicy secrets on victim number two!"
"Matthew Lund of Cleveland State University, had a restraining order put on to him by an ex girlfriend. Apparently she had cheated on him and our man has some temper issues, Matthew went over to her house and began to beat her up. Originally her family had set charges but later dropped them. Oh our bad boy also has a couple petty thefts and one DUI." She informed happily.
"Do you think it could be the work of the ex?" David asked, rubbing his course stubble. I furrowed my brows together and saw Derek do the same.
"I doubt it. His girlfriend was what, five feet tall?" Derek insisted, after showing the older agent a picture that Grace had sent. "She wouldn't have the physical strength to kill him or our third victim." He finished, a pointed look sent David's way.
They continued to bicker, saying how she might have a partner or how her family had the right motive. A blast of turbulence rocked the jet slightly, causing me to make a death grip on the seat. Flying terrified me, that is until I got use to it after starting to work with the BAU. Now it's just turbulence and bad weather that frightens me, slightly. Emily glanced at me with a worried look, I avoided her gaze.
"Tox screens came back negative, everything was in the ordinary. Cause of death was a final slice to the throat." JJ added, sending a look towards our two fighting team mates. The two men settled down.
"Grace I need you to dig into the victim's last activities and get more information about Matthew Lund. Find me more." I barked, closing my portfolio. Grace nodded and with the click of a button, she broke our video connection, leaving us with a smile.
I looked down at my watch, Eight Twenty-two. On average a flight from Manassas, Virginia to Cleveland, Ohio would take around an hour and seven minutes. While flying with commercial flights, there is at least an added thirty five minutes due to preparation for take off and unloading luggages after landing.
However when using a private plane, it can save you the added wait, plus private planes fly faster than commercial planes. Really it only takes fifty-eight minutes with our jet. We had left Quantico at Seven Forty-five, meaning we were thirty seven minutes into our flight.
"As soon as we land, JJ and David will head to Cleveland's head FBI building. Special Agent Todd Wicker should be waiting for you." I chimed, looking at my two faithful agents. JJ nodded, getting up from her seat and gathering the things we normally use to set up our briefing room.
I looked at Emily. "You and I will go to the latest crime scene. And Derek, Adam you two head to Matthew Lund's crime scene." They nodded, beginning to do their own things for the last leg of the trip.
