As I was falling, a strong force suddenly jerked me up and I stopped, dangling hundreds of feet in the air. I looked up saw that Bryan had saved me, again.
Bryan breathed deeply, then wrapped both hands firmly around mine, and pulled. I could feel the strain of his muscles under my weight. I tried to help by reaching for the ledge with my free hand, but it was to far away. Bryan's grip loosens, and I'm then dangling by his one finger. My stomach seems to have taken a vacation because I can no longer find it. I close my eyes and joined my hands together on the one finger. I want to scream, but I can't for fear that the rebels will find us.
I feel myself being slowly raised into the air, I peek through my eyelids and notice that I'm safe, in Bryan's arms. We share a smile then he sets me down.
"Thanks. I almost just died, and if it weren't for you-" I shudder, not wanting to think about what would have happened.
"Don't mention it." Bryan says this with a look in his eyes that say many things. You can trust me, I won't let you fall-
And I suddenly remember that what I want to do is illegal in the Selection. Besides, it's not possible to have a relationship with anyone else but the prince.
Uneasily, I say, "We should probably get going."
Bryan nods. "Right, yeah, um you lead the way."
The rest of the walk was in silence. It was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
Finally, we reached a ledge wide enough to sit and wait for the battle to be over. We were hidden enough so that no one would spot us, but could view the grounds in front of the palace. We settle on the space, and I take in the view.
A paved road went on into the distance for miles and miles. Trees lined the path of all different colors. Red, yellow, green. Forests surround the castle, never-ending in the amount of trees. There was a beautiful color-splattered sky, covered with the day's sunset. I could spot purples and blues and pinks and oranges and yellows. There was so much in this world that too many people took for granted.
I finally decide to break the silence.
"Why do you have the Northern Star and Red Skull symbols?" I ask
Bryan seemed lost in thought before he responded, "That one may take awhile to explain, but I'll start at the beginning."
