When I hear a knock at the door it startles me awake. I groggily open my eyes and see Liv starting to stir from where she's still nuzzled against my chest. We must've stayed in the chair all night. She was so upset last night, I didn't know what to do. I've never seen someone cry that hard. Her whole body was shaking against mine as she choked out sobs. It was all I could do to not cry myself, seeing her in that much pain. But I had to be strong for her so I just kept telling her I had her and everything would be ok until she finally calmed down and fell asleep. After that I couldn't bear to move her. Not that I minded it much. Sitting there, holding her in my arms. Her letting me hold her in my arms. I told her I was there for her as a friend but I think we both knew I was lying. I don't think I'll ever be able to look at her as just a friend ever again. But it's what she needed to hear to let me comfort her. That's one lie I'll gladly tell her. I sat there for a while just watching her eyelids flutter while she dreamt. All the guards and barriers she puts up to hide her feelings for me were gone, leaving her face relaxed and peaceful and so beautiful. I don't even know how long I just sat there staring at her but I must have fallen asleep eventually.

As she looks up at me, I'm surprised by the look on her face. I expected her to look sad or confused but instead it's something different. She looks calm, happy almost. Her lips are turned up in a smile and her hand is resting on my chest casually. As if this is something that happens every day. I have to say, waking up with her feels amazing. I'm so distracted by her I can't help but reach forward, running my thumb along her cheek. I'm about to lean in to kiss her good morning but I'm snapped out of it when I hear the door opening.

"Liv, Liam is asking for you." Lexie says as she walks in. She must have used her key. I think the sight of us embraced on the chair like this takes her by surprise because she stops dead in her tracks as soon as she sees us.

"Don't give me that look." Liv warns her as she climbs off my lap.

"I'm not giving you any look." Lexie answers even though she clearly is giving her a look. It's halfway between, aww look how cute they are and oh no not again.

"Nothing happened. She fell asleep." I quickly explain as I sit up and start to stretch out. I'm going to be sore for days. But to be honest, it's worth it.

"Still, it's probably a good idea I thought to come get you instead of Liam. I knew when Lou told us you both stayed here something was going on." She says, not even trying to conceal how she's rolling her eyes.

"I told you, nothing happened." I try to tell her. I don't want her to think I took advantage of Liv or that she did anything wrong but both of them are ignoring me.

"You talked to him? You didn't murder him?" Liv asks, surprised. Honestly, I am too.

"It took a lot of restraint but no, he is still alive. He feels really bad about last night."

"Don't tell me you feel sorry for him..." Liv says, her voice still surprised.

"I'm not. But I know he knows he screwed up. I'm not saying I'm going to forgive and forget right now but I know he's sorry. He didn't mean for last night to happen."

"That doesn't give him a free pass!" Liv shouts back at her.

"I know. But he was upset about you Liv. About you pulling away from him. I don't think you can really fault him for that." She says, looking between the two of us conspicuously.

"No, you do not get to judge me."

"I'm not judging you Liv. It's just..." Lexie starts but Liv immediately interrupts her.
