Chapter 17: Back home

Ruby and Sapphire have separate rooms too, right? Just assume they do, okay?

A few days later, in Steven's home

Amethyst came out of her room, strecching her arms and legs. "Morning, dudes"
"Morning, Amy" Obsidian said. "Are you okay now?"
"Yeah, the regenerating was easy"
"That's good"
"So, do you have food here?" Amethyst looked around the room.
"Yeah, I bought about twenty donuts. They were meant for Steven, he'd come home today, but I suppose you can have one" Steven was in the hospital, because he couldn't regenerate that easy, because he was half-human.
Obsidian gave a donut to Amethyst, who devoured it in one bite.
Suddenly, Sapphire came out. Zircon made Garnet unfuse, and because Ruby and Sapphire were too weak to fuse back again, they went to their own rooms.
Sapphire looked around. "Ruby's not back yet" she stated calmly.
"True" Obsidian said. "Want a donut?"
"I'd rather not"
"Sure"
"Anyways" Amethyst said. "Where's Jasper?"
"She's picking up Steven from the hospital" Obsidian answered. "He will be here for a day and then return to the hospital"
"Okay. Can I have another donut?"
"No"
"Sure. Where's Lapis?'
"Back to the barn with Peridot. She was worried about her"
"Kay"

They remained silent for a while, until the doorbell rang. Obsidian ran to open it and Steven walked in, Jasper following him.
Steven had his left arm and his back bandaged, but looked fine besides that.
When he came in, Pearl came in at the same time. When she saw him, she schrieked, ran to him, wanted to hug him but stopped herself. Instead she dropped down on a chair, her head in her hands.
Everyone looked at her, confused looks on their faces.
Steven walked to Pearl and hugged her with his right arm. She looked at him and tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt incredibily guilty about what had happened to him, that was clear.
"It wasn't your fault" Steven said, but the moment was ruined by Ruby who came storming through her door.
"Sapphire!" she called out, but froze as she saw everyone. "Whoops"
Sapphire ran to Ruby and they fused back into Garnet. "Sorry for disturbing your moment" she said.
"It doesn't matter" Pearl said, wiping her eyes dry.
"Well, we were planning to-" Obsidian started, but was interrupted by Amethyst.
"We?" she asked.
"Jasper and me. But anyway, we were planning on throwing a party to celebrate Steven coming back and that we got rid of Zircon for a while, she can't use the warp pads, so she's stuck in that mountain for a while"
"Why can't she use warp pads?" Pearl asked.
"She wasn't registered"
"I see"
"Well, J, let's prepare dinner"
"Kay" Jasper said.
The two Gems walked to the kitchen and started cooking.

After a few minutes, Obsidian remembered something.
She turned at Amethyst. "Hey, Amy, did you leave any donuts for Steven?"
"I only ate one in total" Amethyst answered uninterested.
Obsidian took the bag of donuts and gave it to Steven. "Dinner will take a long time, so don't worry about eating yourself full. Also, if I were you, I'd leave some"
Steven took a donut and took a bite. "Why?" he mumbeled, his mouth full with donut.
"You will see" she walked back to the kitchen, but then the doorbell rang again. Steven ran to the door and opened it. Connie was standing outside.
"Steven!" she called out. "Are you okay? Obsidian told me you were hurt, but so badly?"
"I'm fine" Steven said. "But what brings you here?"
"Obsidian invited me to a party with you and the Gems"
Stars appeared in Steven's eyes. "Really? For me?"
"Yeah" Obsidian said. "Since you saved Jasper, I owe you something"
"Obsidian?" Connie asked.
"Yes?"
"Can I meet this Jasper?"
"Sure thing" Obsidian turned at the kitchen. "Oi, J! Connie wants to meet you"
"Okay! Coming!" Jasper yelled back. She appeared in front of Connie, who gasped.
"I-is that Jasper?" she stammered.
