Waking up without a nightmare to force me awake was a relief. In fact, the entire morning has been peacefully quiet. I showered and dressed in a pair of dark grey jeans and a green plaid button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow. Walking downstairs, I see Kaila sitting in her usual spot at the counter. Instead of initiating a conversation, I kiss the top of her head and continue towards the garage. My sensitive ears hear her hop down and run to me. Suddenly, I feel her arms wrap tightly around my waist.
"I'm sorry I was ignoring you!" She said, her voice slightly muffled by my shirt. I turn around and kneel down so we're at eye level.
"Don't apologize Kai! I was being a jerk! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean any of it!" I apologized. She smiled just the way I liked it and wrapped her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her small frame gently.
"It's okay big brother! I forgive you!" She giggled. I pulled away so I could look her in the eyes.
"What do you say, when I come back from my camping trip, you and I have a dunkin donuts date?" I ask. Her eyes grow wide in excitement. Man this kid loves her donuts!
"Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times, yes!" She squeals.
"Is that a yes?" I ask, sarcastically. She reached out and bopped me on the head.
"Duh, you big dummy!" She said causing me to laugh. I kiss her forehead before standing. "I'll see you later, okay?"
"Okay!" She chimed. I smiled and turned around, stepping into the garage and climbing in the car.
Pulling into the school parking lot, I found an empty space besides Stiles' jeep. He and Scott stood in front of the jeep talking, nodding when they saw me. I turned to the passenger seat to grab my backpack but stopped when I saw a truck parking a few spots down. Exiting the truck was none other than Theo, along with Rylee and... Blaire! I growled deeply, before grabbing my backpack and climbing out of the car, slamming the door behind me hard, so hard the driver side window burst into tiny class fragments, scattering all over the seat and the concrete of the parking lot. Scott and Stiles look at me worriedly, but I pay them no attention as my sights are set on Theo. I start taking angry strides towards him, but am held back by Scott and Stiles. I struggle to free myself from them. All I see is red. I suddenly want Theo's blood on my hands and the thought of ripping him apart has me slowly changing. Starting to slip their hold on me, I zero in on Theo and only Theo, until a soft hand presses against my chest causing me to calm down just enough for Scott and Stiles to get a better grip on me.
"Jett. You need to calm down. Please!" She begged, but I couldn't. I had lost all self control. "Jett, look at me." She demands, but my eyes are glued to Theo with murderous intent. Suddenly her hands are on either side of my face, forcing me to look at her. Guilt filled her soft irises as she gently caressed my cheeks, calming me down completely.
"Did he hurt you?" I asked, angrily.
"No. I'm so sorry! My car wouldn't start and I would have called you, but Theo was already there picking up Rylee. She demanded me to ride with them and since she doesn't know anything about who Theo really is, I thought it would seem suspicious to her if I suddenly refused to be around him! Please forgive me!" She begged. I can't bring myself to tell her that Rylee is just like Theo. It's not my secret to tell. I released myself from Scott and Stiles, then wrapped my arms around her, holding her to me.
"I forgive you, but I'm driving you home today. Deal?" I ask. She smiles and pecks me on the lips. "Deal!"
The rest of the day went surprisingly smooth without any problems. Blaire and I walked hand in hand down the hallway, stopping at Scott's locker where he and Stiles stood waiting.
"Hey so Stiles and I are going to get Derek and we'll pick you up at your house in an hour!" Scott explained as the four of us walked out to the parking lot.
"Alright, that gives me time to take Blaire home." I say. They gave us a nod before climbing into Stiles' old and rugged blue jeep. I opened the passenger door of the camaro for Blaire, then walked around to the driver side, opening the door, sighing at the amount of little glass shards all over the seat. I carefully sweep the pieces out with my hand before climbing in, pulling the door shut along the way. I winced and pulled my hand off the door. A thick piece of glass had punctured the palm of my hand.
"Are you okay?" Blaire asked nervously.
"Yeah I'm okay." I say, gently pulling the piece of glass out, wincing slightly. As soon as the glass escaped my skin, the wound healed.
"Wow, that was fast." Blaire exclaimed.
"Too fast." I add.
"What do you mean? Don't werewolves heal fast?" She asked. I nodded
"We do. Just not that fast." I admit.
"Another side effect?" She asked. I shrugged. "Maybe."
"Will you promise me something?" I ask as I walk her to the door. She nodded.
"While I'm gone, stay away from Theo, even if Rylee wants you to hang out with her and him, just please don't do it." I beg.
"Okay." She says.
"Promise?"
"I promise." She smiles and I can't help but kiss her softly, but she quickly pulls away.
"Don't forget the promise you made me." She said, sternly. I chuckled.
"How could I forget?" I say, jokingly. "I'll always come back to you." I say, seriously. She smiles and leans in to kiss me lovingly. After a moment, our lips part and we stay, with our foreheads touching.
"I... I uh... I should probably go." I say, internally punching myself in the face for chickening out on telling her how I feel. She nods and starts turning away, but I pull her face back to mine and give her one last, desperate kiss.
"I'll be back in a few days." I say.
"Okay." She said. I turned and walked back to the car, driving home. Once home I go up to my room and pack a small bag. By the time I got downstairs, I heard a car horn. I walked out to Derek's FJ Cruiser and climbed into the backseat besides Stiles.
"You ready?" Scott asked. I nodded, nervously.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm ready."
