Even though I still wasn't buying the tarot card shit, her words did appeal to me. I did have high hopes from Spain. Not like I was expecting a fairy tale or something, but I had this feeling of going back home and not having to cry myself to sleep anymore, maybe? I held on tightly to the anklet my mom gave me, on my 8th birthday. Even though it was an anklet, I always wore it as a bracelet. I thought about how everything changed. I doze off to sleep before I know.
"Get Up!", I wake up only to see Emilia standing on my bed, shouting at me.
"What's the deal with you?", I say rubbing my eyes, "Psychopath!", I yawn.
"George is taking us shopping today. Right George?", she looks towards her left. I turn that side to see McGarthy is in my room too. I don't know why, but I don't get "George" kinda vibes from him. McGarthy is cool.
"Haha! Yes babe.", he winks at Emilia.
Babe? Seriously? Babe? Can I be the first to say Eewww?
"I'll go take a shower. I'll see you guys later.", Emilia blushes and leaves the room. She said I'll see you "guys", but didn't even bother looking at me.
"So Barnes, you wanna go shopping too or you'll be making out with some dude at the mall?", he comes and sits beside me on the bed.
"The name is Alex.", I say without looking at him.
"Like you're going to call me 'George'."
I simply chuckle at this.
"So Barnes and McGarthy it is.", he winks at me.
"Gee! Don't give me that. Save it for Emilia.", I give him a disgusted expression.
"So you didn't answer my question. Shopping or making out?", he raises an eyebrow.
"Are there any apes in the mall?"
"No, why?", he asks.
"That's the last generation of humans I can handle.", I walk out of the bed throwing my comforter on his face.
Emilia was all dolled up in the next 35 minutes while I was still trying to find sugar for my tea.
"You still aren't ready?", she asks as she walks into my room.
"Calm down ninja. Not everyone has special powers.", I roll my eyes at her. "Now if the two of you would leave my room, I might as well go take a bath.", I say as I take the last sip of my tea.
"Okay! We'll see you in the lobby.", Emilia waves her hand while leaving the room.
"Dress like a human, Barnes."
It takes me 30 minutes to look like a human. I don't get it. Raccoons are too much to ask for. Cool, I get it. Can I not be a duck either?
By the time I arrive at the lobby, the two of them had already had their breakfast. So much for a best friend, Emilia. Internal eye roll.
"Sorry! Breakfast time is over.", Emilia says as soon as I reach where they're standing.
"It's okay. Not a big fan of it.", I was starving in reality.
"I grabbed a sandwich for you , Barnes.", man! McGarthy's words, for once sounded good. I eat the sandwich like it ain't no big deal but I'm doing an internal break dance right now. He got me the one with mayo. Who is he? An angel?
Emilia ends up at a mall. I know this was going to take hours, so I decide to check the book store. Most books are in Spanish. The ones that are in English are the ones I've already read. I was bored. I was just walking through the book store looking at different books when I see McGarthy.
