I stand in front of the mirror and sigh. I'm all dressed up for the event in a peach coloured pouf dress. I'm in no mood to make an effort for my appearance so I skip the makeup and wear my hair down.
Today, I'll end it for once and for all.
Later that evening, as dad and I enter the club, memories from last time flood my brain. The only difference is that the last time, I was stupid enough to trust him. This time, not so much..
After asking me for the thousandth time whether or not I'll be okay, dad finally greets his fellow businessmen. One of the main reasons I'm here is because dad was extremely excited about the Boston Business Meet ever since the invite was sent, and I don't want to be the one to ruin it for him.
I sigh and make my way to get myself some cranberry juice while I scan the club searching for Trey. Considering his psychic tendencies, he should be here any moment. I'll wait..
It's been over an hour and it's my fourth glass of juice, he still isn't here. Guess he wants to end it another way then.
I pay for the drinks and tell dad that I'll be going home. Thank goodness for having driven different cars today.
Dad insists to join me but I deny. At least one of us should complete what they were here for.
While leaving the club, I spot Christian getting out of his car. His face looking like he just lost everything that mattered to him.
Why on Earth is he so sad?
And while I'm still thinking about what might've happened, Christian approaches me himself, "Alex! What are you doing here?"
"The Boston Business Meet. Here with my dad, I was just leaving."
"Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?"
"D-did you.. did you and Trey have a fight or something?", he asks hesitantly.
"I think that's something you should ask him.", I tell and start to leave.
"I would've.", Christian shouts from behind me. "But it's not exactly easy to talk to a person in coma."
And that one line freezes my body on the spot. Did he just say Trey is in coma? But..
"Yes, Alex.", Christian comes in front of me and speaks. "Trey has been in a coma for over ten days now."
"How?", I ask, my voice hoarse, it is only now that I realise I'm crying.
"The night you guys were supposed to have a dinner, he got into a car crash. Luckily, the other driver was one of our employees, he immediately got Trey to our family hospital.", Christian sighs.
"How is he doing now?", I manage to ask.
"No improvement at all. The doctors say that he has injured his brain in the accident and that his condition is very critical."
"Can you take me to him?"
"Yeah, of course. Go wait in the car, I'll be two minutes. Just need to drop these papers off.", he says handing me the car key. "Don't cry, Alex. It'll be okay."
