Day 15 P1. Challenge
I didn't sleep much of the night. I was up for a while. Thinking. Thinking about today. Today, where the final challenge happens. I will fight 1v1 for one million dollars!
I get up. It's still early. The sky is just lighting up with a brilliant ray of orange and purple. I walk over to the other cabin. I knock on the door. "Come in," she says. I walk into the cabin. A pale face with blue hair that matches her black and blue outfit greets me.
Gwen. *Pause for excitement*
"Thanks," is all she says. There is a moment of silence. Eventually, she brakes the silence. "You really had me shocked last night. I can't really believe that was only last night. Heck, I can't believe fifteen days ago there were sixteen of us. Just, thanks. Now I have another chance."
She rushes up to me and gives me a quick peck on the cheek, a "Thanks," and runs out. I don't want to think about what just happened. Too awkward. I flashback to last night. I remember it clear as day.
"So who is it?" Chris had said.
I searched all their faces. Zoey's despair, Gwen's rage, and Chris's boredom. I remember starting my sentence with, "Zoey..." Gwen was enraged, Zoey jumped up. I imagine while editing Chris cut to commercial. At least, that's what I would've done. "...to be eliminated." The looks reversed. Gwen cheered and Zoey was super depressed. Gwen and I high-fived. Zoey spun and was launched.
Chris is extra happy today. He holds a remote in his hand. "Today, you will be facing off against..." Chris held up his hand and gestured towards... absolutely nothing. "Dang it," Chris whines. He presses the tiny yellow button. Two robotic beetles are raised up from the ground.
"Ah!" we cry in unison.
"Oh, that's just the beginning." Chris hands me a pair of binoculars. "If you can see the million dollars..." I can still barely see it even with the binoculars. There were many obstacles in our path. I hand Gwen the binoculars.
"As you can see, the money is quite a ways away. First, you will fight the beetles. Then you will race through the sand mines. Third, you will apply sunscreen to the babies," Chris continues.
"Babies?" Gwen questions
"Yes, babies." Chris continues, "With your baby in the wheel barrel, you will race the babies to the peer, where their mothers are."
"You stole babies from their mothers?!" I cry.
"More or less," Chris responds. "Your fifth challenge is to explain to the mothers where and why their babies were taken. You will then participate in the Day 2's challenge: diving into the sea to find a key. Hey! Rhyme!" *Eye roll* "The peer will separate into two pathways. One for, you," gestures towards Gwen, " and one for you," he gestures towards me. "There will be a distinct color difference for the paths."
"Which path am-" I start.
"No questions," Chris dictates. "Then you will do some parkour. You will jump from rock formation to rock formation. When you finish, your final challenge is to race across a bridge. One of those rope ones. You know what I mean, Gwen!" She rolls her eyes. "First one to grab the million wins. Any questions?"
"Um," we both start to speak.
"Okay, great!" Chris cuts us off. "Let's get started with the-"
"NO!" I shout at him. "I'm not doing this McClean! Which path am I?"
"Uggggggggh! Fine! I'll tell you! Ethan, you're path is painted blue and, Gwen, you're black, but remember. You will regret this."
Gwen and I share a terrified glance.
Chris grins. "Let's get to it. The final Total Drama challenge starts now! GO!"
