"Omg no, it's not you. IT CAN'T BE," the girl in the movie lets out a bloodcurdling scream.
"I didn't know someone could be that stupid," I scoff at the screen, while stuffing my face with a handful of popcorn.
Alex chuckles at my commentary while stealing a piece of the buttery treat and pulls me closer to hug me tighter. We've been couch potatoes all day, watching movie after movie. We've been so busy and stressed with school so a nice, relaxing date at home seemed the most fitting. Our alone time was suddenly ruined once a knock at the door came. I get up groaning, walk thru the main hallway that lead to the front door.
Crap, how did he find my house?
Quickly, I lock the door while stealthily peering one last time before closing the curtain fully. I make my way back to the living room, sitting back down placing my legs over Alex's to try and get comfy again.
"who was it," Alex asks even though I could clearly see he's paying more attention to the movie.
"The mailman," I confidently lie while grabbing another fist full of popcorn. Alex wraps his arm behind my head to pull me closer. I smile at this small gesture, before returning to my gross eating habit.
Again, the knocking comes back a few short minutes later. This time it sounds like the pounding of a fist, louder and stronger. It was Alex's turn to gets up, he adds the same growl under his breath as I originally did. He makes his way to open the door and instantly fakes a smile. I look back while pausing the movie because I knew from his expression watching this conversation was going to be more chilling than this horror movie ever will be.
"Oh, what are you doing here, Daniel," Alex says, forcing enthusiasm in his voice.
"Just checking up on my best friend and his girlfriend," Daniel triumphantly replies with his smile beaming on his face causing his eyes to squint, " Hey there, Bailey!"
My face drops while I turn around and duck my head. The realization of my bully standing inside my safe place, my own home, sets in. I could hear his monotone chuckle linger from my reaction which only diverts my attention back in their direction from a distance.
"First of all, we are not friends," Alex's face drops along with his friendly attitude. He crosses his arms and looks him up and down," Second, don't talk to my girlfriend, let alone look at her, especially after you let Shelby make you pretend to hate her."
Wait did Alex just say pretend? He never mentioned that to me?
"You know," Daniel drops his gaze, but the smile never disappears from his face while he shakes his head, "that word girlfriend is such a STRONG word to use. Which reminds me of why I actually came here to talk to you about if you don't mind."
Daniel drops the act and becomes more serious as he begins to clear his throat, but Alex doesn't even let him get a word in, "THAT'S IT! I'm done with you trying to get us to split! No matter how hard you try, Bailey and I aren't going to!"
Daniel just stands there, but he isn't facing Alex, instead his eyes are directly on me. This makes Alex's visible anger continue to grow, so much so that I can see his nose flaring. I swiftly making my way towards the boys before it escalates into anything physical. Without thinking, I reach up and grab Daniel by the shoulders turning him around and with all my willpower push him out the door.
I finally say my first real sentence to him, "now, Daniel was it? How about you do me a favor, or us rather, and never come back"
As I slam the door in his face, I hear Daniel say "but Bailey... wait-".
