Drama Never Ends

On Monday I went to school. I went to Chemistry class; a class I have with both Geo and Jared, two people who I really didn't want to see today... especially Geo with the carnival fiasco. So, I figured if I play it normal, no one would really notice me. I got to class early, helped Mr. Morris set up the class from, and still had time to read some of my book. The bell rang and one by one, the students came into the room. I hoped that I got to sit alone again. I turned around to see the door and at the exact time I turned around Geo walks into the room. Unbelievable! My timing couldn't be any better. (Note my sarcasm here) The instant he walked in, his eyes met mine. He was looking at me pointedly, yet apologetic? I don't know, I'm not an emotion-eye-analyzer. So as quick as he found my eyes, I looked the other way and turned back to face the front of the classroom. Luckily for me, he didn't sit next to me.

"Hey, Cassie"

As for Jared? No such luck. I didn't even have to turn around to know it was him. I sigh, but I didn't make it obvious enough for Jared to see, I don't want to be mean and he didn't exactly do anything.. so I just made up my mind to pretend like it's a good thing he spoke to me this morning.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Nothing much, how was your weekend?"

"It was..." I stopped to really think about how I should word this. "It was alrig-"

"Okay class!" Mr. Morris began to speak.

"I know it's only the first full week of school, but I'm giving you guys a project."

Cue the class moaning as a whole.

"It's not anything major! And this is to help you guys. You rather do this that I'm giving you 1 week to do? Lots of textbook homework on the subject we cover in class, day by day?" He paused for a moment to have the students think the proposition over.

"Hands up if you'd rather do the homework"

A couple hands here and there.

Raise your hands for the project.

Lots more hands.

"Ok! Majority rules!" Mr. Morris said, clapping his hands.

"So you guys are going to research a great - revolutionary even - chemist. I want you to do a biography on them and some information on things they did. I want you to tell me why you think this had an impact on humans and what life would be like without something this specific chemist did."

I was taking notes on what Mr. Morris was saying until I heard that sentence that could make or break your project.

"You'll be working in pairs that randomly put together. When I say your partners name you can automatically sit by them or stay where you are. Whichever works for you."

"Stacy and Aaron
Jenna and Rudy
Kaci and Amy
Derrick and Jasmine
Angela and Brianna
Jake and Taylor M.
Taylor W. and -"

This is bad. I didn't want to be paired up with Geo. And both his and my names hasn't been mentioned yet. This isn't good.

"Geo and Zach"

I felt a small wave of relief was over me as this group was called

"Jared and Cassandra"

Ugh. This is definitely gonna be awkward if yesterday comes up. I mean, it can always be worse, so I should stop complaining.

"Jared!" I waved my hand, signaling for him to come over.

"Hey Cass" he said. I don't know if it was just me but I detected a upset tone in his voice.

I smiled at him but I sorta knew what's wrong.

"What's up? How was your weekend?"

He shrugged. "It was okay I guess after the party I cleaned up and then just stayed in. Nothing major."

"I saw your text to go to the carnival, I opened it too late.. I'm sorry."

"S'alright." He quickly. "let's get started on this project yeah?"

"Sure" I replied, dropping the subject."

We got to work on researching, and before we knew it, time has flown by and bell rang, signaling that chemistry was over.

"Shit" I whispered to myself.

I should've started packing a bit before the bell so I could leave early. Now the chances of me having to speak to Juwany is that much greater. Sighing, I started packing my things a quickly as I can.

"Bye Jared" I said heading for the door, not even waiting for a response.

"Cass wait!" Crap crap crap. I could've made it. I glanced at Geo briefly, he was still packing. I turned to face Jared, who was already walking up to me

"you should give me your number, so it would be easier to get into contact with you. You know, for the project."

"Oh yeah, sure. Lemme put it in your phone"

I typed in my number as quick as I could and made a beeline for the door. But of courseeee it was just my luck that Geo was leaving late also. I tried to pass by him quickly but no such luck.

"Cass" he said. "I'm sorry about last night, that wasn't supposed to happen"

"I don't think I would have if you didn't ask me to a carnival know you had a girlfriend. But it's whatever."

"No it's not like that-" he began, but I cut him off.

"Like I said, it's whatever. Anyways I gotta go. I need to use the bathroom before my next class so see you around." I said, leaving without a reply.

I know the bathroom part was complete bs but I just really didn't want to talk to Geo right now. I went to the bathroom anyways though, just to think. I had so many questions. Who was that girl? She called Geo her boyfriend but he didn't seem to be happy about that. But then if that were the case, why were they holding hands the other day after school? And if they were really together why did he ask me to the carnival?? I was just wasting time thinking about this so I decided on just going to class.

And guess who I saw in the hallway? Andrea. This turning out to be a beautiful, lucky day, isn't it?? There was a couple girls behind her, I assumed that they were part of her clique.

"Oh look it's the slut bag that's thirsty for Geo." One of her friends said, referring to me. A couple people looked my way. She was trying to publicly embarrass me. I decided to have some fun, instead of arguing.

I gasped and put on a fake voice "Ohmigosh where!?!" I aaid looking to the left then the right. And then I looked Andrea dead in the eye and said "Oh, you" in a disappointed voice, pouting my bottom lip.

She had pure anger in her eyes and they only grew when the people nearby started laughing. "He's my boyfriend Cassandra" she sneered at me. "Listen you're going to have to discuss that with him because I don't know anything about anyone here and her asked me to the carnival so..." I shrugged  at her, passing her to get to my class. Well played Cass. Well played.
