I watch her from across the room
And she stares right back at me
The look inside her eyes
Tells of heartache and tragedy
On the outside looking in
Always feeling so alone
Afraid of what others may think
The emptiest feeling ever known
As I stare deeper at those eyes
Lost in their darkest hue
I know there is nothing worse
Than feeling as though they've given up on you
I search the lines that crinkle
In the corners of her face
And I see the many scarsi
That time cannot erase
Unlike the scars of battle
They are not worn with pride
They are worn because she was
The only one who ever, tried
Trapped inside a cage
Gilded with secret hate
Biding her time and watching
Tempting the hands of fate
As I stand, I walk closer
Not sure of what I should do
I brace my hands on the mirror
And whisper it's me, I am you
