Healing

Makayla visits Katie every day in the hospital for two months. One day Makayla goes into the room and sees that Katie's not there. Makayla runs out of the room and stops a nurse.

Makayla: Where is my twin, Katie?

Nurse: She's in therapy right now.

Makayla: what is she doing in therapy?

Nurse: The doctor told us to get her into a therapy session for her to start talking again.

Makayla: How many days has she been going?

Nurse: 14 days now.

Makayla: and I just now find out about this?

Nurse: we were told that you gave us permission to do so. I thought you knew.

Makayla: has she spoken yet?

Nurse: No. I honestly don't think its working.

Makayla: What makes you say that?

Nurse: Every time she goes she drawls into herself even more.

Makayla: where is the therapy room?

Nurse: Follow me and I will take you there.

Makayla follows the nurse down what feels hundreds of hallways, and are soon at the door to the therapy room. The nurse opens the door and Makayla steps in. The room is dark except for one lamp, Katie is the only patient in the room, and there is a therapist as well.

Therapist: Tell me is the dark helping you?

Katie does not answer.

Therapist: Answer me!

Katie cringes but still does not say a word.

Therapist: You have to talk.

Silence

Therapist: Do I have to put you in the cold room again?

Still Katie does not say a word but now is shaking with fright.

Therapist: Speak!

Makayla: Leave her alone!

Therapist: Who's there?

Makayla: A ghost from your past.

Therapist: Look I mean her no harm.

Makayla: She can only see blackness.

Therapist: What do you mean?

Makayla: She was born blind. She can't see.

Therapist: I'm sorry I didn't know. On her papers it says that she can see but chooses to live in the dark.

Makayla: She has never chose anything in her life. I'm taking her back to her room, if you try to stop me I swear I'll make you need therapy yourself.

Therapist: You can leave now.

Katie gets up weakly and starts to slowly go to the door. Makayla steps right beside Katie and takes her arm.

Makayla: I'm here Katie. Don't be afraid.

They leave the room and start walking down the hallways to the front doors.

Makayla: I'm taking you home.

Katie stops walking and grabs tightly to Makayla's arm.

Makayla: What is it Katie?

Katie almost falls onto the floor but Makayla catches her.

Makayla: Katie!

Katie doesn't say anything.

Makayla: I'm taking you home right now!
