The days came and went. Katie was still in a coma and on life support. She seemed to get well after a few days than a couple days later got worse. The doctors told them that she was suffering from infections and malnutrition. Lau stayed by her side day and night; he wasn't sleeping, eating, showering or anything. He was determined that if she died he would die to too. It soon became Christmas Eve. Christmas wouldn't be the same without Katie there with them. They all prayed extra hard for Katie to wake up and be alright but the doctors didn't believe it was going to happen. Katie was basically dead and the machines were keeping her alive.

Makayla: is there any change?

Lau: No

Makayla let more tears fall. She couldn't bare to lose Katie now after all these years and after all they've been through from Katie being born blind, the death of their parents, living with a abusive uncle, to living on their own, to being separated and raped to being married and having babies. It seemed like this was all a very bad nightmare but she knew it wasn't.

Lau:*whispers* it's all my fault! I'm such a fuck up!

Makayla: That you are

Lau couldn't really blame his sister-in-law it was his fault and he was a fuck up. Hell his twin brother Larry said it first.

It soon became 9 o'clock at night on Christmas Eve. Lau was praying when he felt hand go through his dread locks. He looked up and seen it was Katie's hand. She very slowly opened her eyes.

Lau: KATIE BABY! YOUR AWAKE! YOUR ALRIGHT!

Lau started crying with happy tears and his yelling made Makayla and Larry wake up and doctors and nurses come running.

Makayla: KATIE OH MY GO YOUR AWAKE!

Katie weakly held up a peace sign. Makayla smiled with tears running down her face.

Makayla: I missed you.

Katie blinked twice.

The doctors took her off life support. She was still weak but she was getting better.

Katie: *tiredly* Lau?

Lau: Yes baby?

Katie: I' sorry. please don't leave me again ever please.

Lau: I won't I promise. I'm so sorry

Katie: It's alright Lau. I forgive you

Everyone in that room even Lau couldn't believe that Katie actually forgave him for cheating on her and shattering her heart but that was something Katie wasn't yet ready to discuss why. She wasn't going to tell them that she seen her deceased parents and knew why Lau did what he did. She couldn't stay mad at him. She loved Lau.

Katie: How's Hope and Faith?

Makayla: our uncle is watching them.

Katie: He'll make a good babysitter.

Katie smiled.

Lau: Katie?

Katie: Yes Lau your son can be my son.

Lau: How?

Katie: I'm still not blind to the inside world.

They all smiled. Soon Katie fell asleep. She was happy again.

In the morning Katie woke up excited. The doctors released her and she went home.

Katie: LOOK LAU EVERYTHING'S SO BEAUTIFUL!

Lau: Your more beautiful

Katie: Nah uh

Lau: Yes uh

Katie: Nah uh

Lau tickled Katie and she laughed and squealed.

Katie:*laughs* OK YOU WIN STOP!

Makayla: Who wants to go ice skating?

Katie: I DO!

Makayla: I knew it

Katie: Can we skate a few minutes before going home please???

Makayla: Yes blue eyes

Katie: Some things never change do they?

Makayla: Nope

They skated for a half hour on the frozen solid creek. They than went home.

Katie: Where's all the decorations? We always hung lots of them! I was blind I still know we did

Makayla: well you were in the hospital and I didn't have the heart to not without you.

Katie: I know what! Me and Lau and finish decorating and you and Larry can fix Christmas dinner!

Larry: Sounds good to me

Makayla: Alright

Katie and Lau as soon as they got home decorated the inside and outside of the house. Larry and Makayla washed their hands and begin cooking the huge meal.  After Katie and Lau had decorated they played in the snow. Katie's happy laugh filled the air. This truly was a Christmas miracle.

Later that night Makayla, Katie, their uncle, his girlfriend, Larry, Lau and the six kids sat down and ate their huge Christmas feast afterwards they all opened presents. It was a happy day for all of them. For once they all got along, everyone was smiling, laughing and having a good time. They were all one big happy family and that's the way all hoped it would stay but it wouldn't be long before heir family was about to get even bigger.
