The Cliff

As I fall,
I see the beautiful horizon,
Orange mesmerizing sun
Setting for the day.

Am I falling to my death?
Death...
Death...
Death...

As I fall,
Cold icy wind numbs my body.

Am I falling to my death?
Death...
Death...
Death...

As I fall,
The taste of my dry mouth lets me experience my fear.

Am I falling to my death?
Death...
Death...
Death...

As I hit the wall of the water,
Unbearable pain shoots through me.
Down...
Down...
Down...
The taste of the salty water makes me nauseous.
Down...
Down...
The bubbles racing upward tickle my face.
Down...No
Up
My body rising,
My head and shoulders break the water.
Chilly air stings my body.

I didn't fall to my death,
I rose to a new life.
The sun has vanished,
Now the sky is full of stars.
