When Connor told me, that he was going to stay in Australia for another few weeks, I got more than excited. Of course, it would've been great if Tyler would have been able to stay as well, but I enjoyed Connor's company a lot.
Though Tyde didn't seem to like him (for kinda obvious reasons) they still got along well. One day we met up with Kayla, my best friend from Australia and she seemed to like him as much as I did. Okay maybe a little bit less, but still. Later that day she sent me a text message saying "I ship it!" and it took me a few seconds before I realized, what she was implying.
We spent most of the time at home watching random movies on TV. Every morning Connor would get up extra early and go for a swim in our pool. Sometimes he repeated it in the afternoon, whilst I spend my time with my phone underneath some tree. He always tried to get me into the water, but I never wanted to.
With every day my usual routine came back and all of the sudden I realised that it must be pretty boring for Connor, to spend all of his day stuck on our property.
When I thought about things we could do I remembered the bucket list I had made years ago. One of the goals on it was to go on a road trip. Of course, road trips tend to get a little bit boring when you are on your own, but now my best friend was in town and there was nothing holding me back.
I started planning our journey immediately though I didn't say anything about it to Connor because I wanted to keep it a surprise. After hours of debating, I decided to take him to West Cape Howe, the most western point of Western Australia. It was a ten-hour drive in total, but I thought that it would be worth it.
After I had talked about it to my mum, whom seemed slightly worried because of the long drive but finally agreed, I went into town to get some snacks and ingredients for a picnic. Connor was busy teaching Oli how to edit a video and though I felt a little bit jealous I was also glad because that way he wouldn't notice that I've been away for a few hours.
Along with the food, I bought a map, because I didn't want to get lost and a pair of new sunglasses. I usually loved staying inside and spending all of my free time on the Internet, but somehow I was very excited for the upcoming trip - and I promised myself that I would take my camera along and film a vlog for once.
When Connor entered the kitchen the next morning, with wet hair and a damp towel wrapped around his torso, I had already packed all the things we would need into the car and prepared some breakfast. He seemed slightly confused about why I was up this early, but I just smiled at him because I didn't want to give the surprise away just yet.
"Tro", he finally spoke up, "is everything okay with you?"
I laughed. "I couldn't be better!"
"Why are you up this early then?"
"Well, I've got some plans for today and it would've been a waste of time if I would've stayed in bed any longer."
"Plans? That sounds good! Am I allowed to come along?"
"You are - actually it would be pretty boring without you." I had caught him off guard because now he was not only oblivious but also curious about what was to come.
"So, what are we going to do?"
"It's a surprise."
"Oh come on, you have to tell me! Otherwise, I won't be dressed properly."
Again I started laughing and shook my head. "As if you would care that much about your appearance! I would recommend some casual and comfortable clothes and you should bring your camera along. We will be away for the whole day tho ..." I trailed off and started setting the table.
