Chapter 2
I smiled in victory when I finished adding frosting on the red velvet cupcakes. They look so pretty... and delicious! Just by looking at the cupcakes is enough to make my stomach grumble.
"Opo!" I answered. Sayang naman iyong mga cupcakes if I'm not going to eat them... "Mama, can I have one?"
Ouch. That hurts.
Well, one is better than nothing.
Napatingin si mama sa mga cupcakes na nilagyan ko ng frosting, she held two trays and took a step. Obviously, she cant carry all trays in one go, at masipag naman ako. Minsan nga lang. "I'll help you, ma."
She nodded and mouthed thank you.
My mom and my aunt's bakery ang pinagkukuhanan namin ng pera para mabuhay. The bakery is established for almost two years now. So far, the bakery is earning just enough money for us to buy our needs. My mom loves baking and I love eating kaya perfect ang bakery para sa amin.
Mama taught me how to bake, that's why ever since I was little, ako na ang nagawa na sarili kong pagkain. But most of the time, sa bakery na lang ako kumukuha.
"Pakipatong na lang diyan," she pointed at the nearest table. "Ako na ang bahala mag ayos."
If I'm not doing anything, natulong ako kay Mama sa pagbebake.
'Pag marami ang order, of course, we earned a lot. Pero minsan, we all prefer na katamtaman lang ang dami ng orders dahil super nakakapagod kapag tambak ang listahan ng orders. Like now, kailangan ideliver ni Mama ang natitirang dalawang order.
"Ma, kailan idedeliver 'to kay Lola Caterina?"
"Maya-maya siguro..."
Bago ako umalis, kumuha muna ako ng isang cupcake. It's been two days since gumraduate ako... I'm not complaining, though. Since first day of school, excited na excited na akong mag bakasyon. I've been waiting for summer to come in ages!
I don't have much plans this summer. Maaga ang graduation namin, and that gives me almost three whole months para magpahinga. All I want is to spend my remaining days in my bed, eating, sleeping and reading books in silence. Speaking of silence, bakit nga pala tahimik ang paligid? Where is my selfie addict cousin and my bubbly aunt?
After I finished eating the cupcake, dumiretso ako sa kusina para uminom. I heard trails of footsteps while drinking. Seconds later, pumasok si Manang Doris sa kusina, she's carrying a silver muffin pan and her other hand is holding a piping bag.
"Manang, asan sina Tita?"
My mom is a baker, chef naman si Tita Helena.
Aba matinde!
