Glenn looked down at his case notes and sighed. “Maybe we don’t even have the right guy,” Kara sighed as she closed her file and leaned back in her seat. “I’m sure we do,” Glenn said. “We just need more evidence to charge him with the trafficking charges.

Kara stared blankly out the window before saying absentmindedly, “Maybe we should get Dynesh and Matthew to stalk him for a couple of days.” Glenn nodded as he stared hard at his notes, trying to figure out exactly what they were missing.

Just then the door to the meeting room opened. “Johnny? What a surprise,” Kara stuttered as she ran over and wrapped him in a hug. He gave her a tight smile and said, “Actually, I’m here to look for Glenn.”

Glenn looked up from his notes in surprise and glanced at Kara who was looking at Johnny in confusion. “You’re looking for Glenn?” she asked in confusion. Johnny nodded and said, “Could you give us a couple of minutes?”

Glenn watched Kara as she stepped out and shut the door behind her before standing up and walking to meet Johnny in the middle of the room. “So how can I help you Johnny?” Glenn asked as he crossed his arms. “I’m not one to beat around the bush so get straight to it.”

Johnny was silent for a moment before looking at Glenn and saying, “Why do you care about Kara so much?” The question took Glenn aback, and he gazed at Johnny for awhile before answering him. “Simple. Because I don’t like seeing people like you bullying someone like her,” Glenn said.

Johnny laughed and said, “Don’t lie Glenn. I know you like her.” Glenn was pacing around the room, and stopped abruptly when he heard that. “You have got to be kidding me. I absolutely do not like Kara,” Glenn lied smoothly as he continued to pace.

“Listen here Glenn,” Johnny growled as he walked over to Glenn. “You better leave Kara alone. She’s my bitch, not yours. So mind your own business and leave the two of us alone.” Glenn turned around to look at him, his eyes flashing in anger.

“First of all Johnny, Kara isn’t a bitch. A bitch is a dog, not a term you may use as and when you like to describe a woman. Secondly, I have every right to dabble in your business with Kara. You’re lucky I haven’t reported you to the police,” Glenn said darkly.

Johnny muttered profanities under his breath before stepping closer to Glenn. “You and I both know that you like her Glenn. We also both know that she loves me,” Johnny whispered menacingly.

The door to the meeting room creaked open, and Kara poked her head around the door. “Johnny? What are you doing?” she asked in horror as she run up to Glenn and Johnny, separating the two of them.

“What’s going on?” she asked, turning to Glenn. “It’s nothing Kara,” Glenn said as he stepped away from her. Johnny chuckled darkly at his response and Kara whipped around to stare at him. “What’s so funny Johnny?” Kara demanded to know, walking towards him.

“Glenn just admitted he has a thing for you dear,” Johnny said mockingly, giving Glenn a knowing look. There was a long silence as Kara turned to look at Glenn who was staring hard at the floor.

“Glenn, is that true?” Kara asked quietly. Glenn looked up at her and said in a hushed voice, “I’m sorry Kara.” Kara threw her hands in the air and said, “I can’t believe I didn’t see this coming.”

“It’s not your fault babe,” Johnny said as he placed an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. “He’s just another player.” Kara glared at Johnny before saying, “I really can’t believe it. All the signs were there. He was also so nice and protective of me but grumpy to everyone else.”

“It’s fine Kara,” Glenn said with a shrug. “You’re with Johnny and I respect that a 100%.” “Actually, it’s not fine,” Johnny said, butting in. “She shouldn’t be stuck in this position.”

Both Kara and Glenn were staring at him and he gave them a cheeky smile. “She shouldn’t have to be in this position,” he repeated slowly. “So, she should choose who she wants to be with.” Kara shook her head slowly as she stared at him in disbelief.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Glen muttered under his breath. “You know I’m not,” Johnny said harshly as he turned to face Kara. “Come on Kara, choose one of us.”

Kara looked at the two of them and shook her head saying, “I can’t Johnny.” The look on his face made her look away and she knew she had to make a choice. Looking at the two of them, her mind suddenly went blank and she couldn’t even make a list of pros and cons of each guy.

“My time is precious Kara,” Johnny said impatiently. “So who are you gonna pick?” Kara licked her lips and said slowly, “I’m really sorry Glenn, but I’m gonna stick with Johnny.”

Glenn gave her a small smile and said, “I get it, and it’s fine. No need to explain.” Johnny gave him a victorious smile and grabbed Kara arm saying,” Alright then babe. Let’s go.” On their way out, Kara mouthed to Glenn, “I’m so sorry.” He gave her a knowing smile in response and then the door closed.

Glenn sank down in the nearest chair and put his head in his hands. He could feel the tears welling up in his eyes and he sighed. “Time after time I do this to myself,” he muttered, wiping his tears away. “It’ll be fine Glenn, absolutely fine.”

He stood up and walked over to the window, lost deep in thought. As he stared out at the road across, he made this promise to himself. ‘I’ll wait for Kara, however long it takes. Johnny is a complete jerk anyway,’ he thought to himself. As he turned back to the room, his mind was made. Like it or not, Kara was his.
