“Kara Yeo. Hmm…” Glenn muttered to himself as he scrolled through the email Calvin had sent him. He pressed a few buttons on the phone on his desk and waited for Norah to pick up the phone. “Norah, my office now,” he said into the phone before slamming it back down and waiting for Norah to come in.
“You wanted to see me sir?” Norah asked as she came into his office. “Sit,” he said, gesturing to the seat opposite him. As she took a seat across him he folded his arms.
“What do you know about Kara Norah?” he asked as he leaned back in his chair. “I head she’s been overseas on many scholarships before and is usually one of the best in her class,” Norah said thoughtfully. “She’s also solved a lot of cases.”
“So we have an over-achiever,” Glenn said with a sigh. “Thanks Norah.” She let herself out of the room and he turned back to his email. He glanced at the clock on the wall and realized that it was already 8:30 and immediately jumped out of his chair.
“Shoots,” he mumbled under his breath as he dialed Estella’s number. “Hey,” she whispered into the phone. “I’m still stuck in the meeting, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to meet up tonight. “Oh, I was just gonna say I’ll be late. It’s alright then,” Glenn said before hanging up.
He walked back to his desk and sat down, sighing when he saw the amount of paperwork he had. “And Calvin wants them done by tomorrow,” he grumbled as he began sorting through his papers. He hated paperwork. Before he was in Epsilon he used to be able to push his paperwork to someone else, but Calvin was strict about paperwork.
Sorting through the papers, he decided to split them into three different stacks. “Crap, Crappier and Crappiest,” he said to himself with a smile as he sorted through the papers and placed them in the pile they belonged to. “There, that was easy. Now to dump the Crappiest stack on Calvin’s table, and shove the rest into the cupboard.”
As he opened the door of his office, he bumped into someone and instantly felt something warm trickle down his arm. “Oh gosh look what you’ve done,” Kara said as she tried to wipe the coffee stains off her shirt.
“Sorry,” he said gruffly as he stepped back. “You must be Kara. I’m Glenn.” She glared up at him and said, “You spilled coffee all over me and the only thing you can think of now is introductions?”
Glenn held up his hands and said, “Hey, you spilled coffee all over my paperwork too, not that I’m complaining.” She looked at him incredulously and said, “Oh so I spilled the coffee? You were the one who walked into me and knocked the cup over!”
“Yeah well you evidently weren’t looking at where you were going either Miss,” Glenn retorted as he began to walk away. “Oh so you’re just going to walk away now? Shouldn’t you at least get me some napkins or something?” Kara huffed as she dumped the cup of coffee in the bin and picked at her shirt.
Glenn walked back into his office and grabbed a few pieces of tissue before walking back out. “Here you go,” he said, throwing them in her general direction. “Don’t forget to clean up the floor as well.” He smiled to himself as he saw Kara’s look of shock.
“Excuse me but I do believe I’m in charge of you!” Kara said indignantly. Glenn chuckled to himself and said, “It doesn’t matter, you’re still cleaning up the floor.” He picked up his papers and stalked off in the direction of Calvin’s office, leaving Kara standing there gaping at him.
“You’re an asshole Glenn Chua!” she shouted at his retreating figure as she bent down to pick up the pieces of coffee-soaked tissue. “Thanks for the compliment,” Glenn said over his shoulder. “Help yourself to the tissue in my office. By the way, you look a lot better splashed in coffee. Maybe you should set that as your Facebook profile picture.” As he walked away, he couldn’t help but smile to himself. It looked like work just got a lot more entertaining.
